C8 Z06 winter testing

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a3...testing-spied/

Going to be an NA track beast like the C6Z I think...

This is the car I am most looking forward to see. A wide body C8 with 600+ HP, DCT and a FPC . OMG.

I hope the C8 Z06 is more like the Porsche GT3 and less like the C7 Z06.

The gt2rs and gt3rs are around 3200lbs with 700hp and 520hp, respectively.

I'm thinking they could find a way to get the C8Z down to that weight and closer to the gt2rs power by staying NA and using more carbon fiber.

... well I take that back. If the C8 is 3650lbs now, we'd probably only see 200lbs lighter than that... so maybe 3450lb for the C8Z

Might be too late by the time it's ready, but the "LT7" (if they call the C8Z engine that) would be perfect for a gen6 Z28... basically a ZLE with an LT7 and finding a way to get 200lbs lighter

Thats probably my best bet to get that engine with a manual, so I hope so, so unlikely I think.

If they're doing a (relatively) low 650ish HP engine then I really hope they are using forced induction. I do not trust these high HP NA engines as they all have had issues. Even the 7 liter LS7 engines. It is way too much HP and too many sacrifices have to be made to wring it out. A forced induction setup at 600-650 HP would be super easy, super reliable, super cheap, and would have tremendous potential provided they don't hamper it with whack cam profiles and tight heads.

The ls7 would have been fine if it wasn't for manufacturing issues according to gm, whether you believe that or not it's still an easily addressed issue so I don't think the ls7 issues came from an overly ambitious design.

A lot of track and handling guys would prefer an NA engine with smooth predictable power delivery, a lighter package, and generating less heat to deal with.

Well, evidently that is NOT the C8Z, but it's the E-ray:
