Rumble/vibration at around 3000 rpm/50 mph in 3rd gear? '17 SS M6

Started to notice this today. Driving in 3rd gear, around 3000 rpm/50 mph: If I start to accelerate I can feel this rumble like vibration. It's not strong, but noticeable, goes away by like 4000 rpm. Not noticing it while accelerating very slow, or when getting on it.

Car is stock (just has NPP fuse pull), 750 miles.

Not really wanting to take it to the dealer, but it looks like I may have to get this looked at. Any input would be great...

There are several reported issues with torque converters this could be part of that issue and it may get worse. Also did you take your car in for the Transmission Update ? If not I would do that first.

That's not good. I'll try that in the morning to see if I feel the same. The only odd thing I have heard or felt is some times get a small thud from the rear when shifting 1-2 or 2-3. And I'm not 100% sure I even felt that. Driving a 15 GTPP for two years they thud all the dang time! BTW... Mustang =slow... Lol.

His car is an M6, no converter.

Could be a pilot bearing issue or something internal.

What you hear is just normal drivetrain slack...

I'm not sure I can pinpoint that it is coming from the transmission. Hard to tell...

It's called harmonic resonance. When the rpm gets to the point where the pitch matches the natural pitch of something in the car, it will resonate. All cars do it. The extent of which you hear it depends on your exhaust volume.

I don't know, just seems to be more than just that...and I don't recall it always doing it.

Just got back from a drive. Tried to eliminate a few things. Put car on a lift and looked for anything touching, all good, tried a/c on and off, no different, straight or turning doesn't matter, open or closed exhaust no change, messing around with TC and PTM, no effect on it, different drive modes have no effect either.

It's not noticeable when cruising slowly, or when getting on it hard. So in most cases it's not in your normal driving area. Moderate acceleration is when I can feel it. I would call it mild, but if you're cruising and put it in 3rd gear, get to about 3000 rpm/50 mph...then accelerate progressively, I feel for a few seconds during this procedure the most.

If some folks could try the same next time out, I'd appreciate it.

Trust me...your exhaust is hitting the resonate frequencies of other things in your drive train. It's normal and it's the reason why it only happens at a certain rpm (or frequency). Also...depending on your speed, you might be lugging the engine. If you accelerate in 5th going 20 mph I'm pretty sure your entire car will shake. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Just keep an eye on whether it gets worse.

You could be right...but 3000 rpm in third gear is far from lugging the engine.

When was the last time you had your tires and wheels balanced?
