Leaving painter's tape on for extended period of time?

To make a long story short, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic I was getting ready to have Xpel re-installed on the areas around the rear wheels. Unfortunately, that won't be happening for a while but the weather is nice and I want to take my Camaro out of hibernation.

I want to use some blue painter's tape to cover the exposed areas in the meantime (like what people do during transport or track days). Yes, it will look dumb but I don't care too much about that.

I know this is an odd scenario, but is there any harm in leaving the tape on the paint for a few months? It will be kept in the garage whenever I'm not driving

You’ll be fine, just keep the tape out of the sun…

The site says to only use it one day at a time but I'm thinking about it

Painters tape may be hard to get off or it stays on a surface for a while. Just use some alcohol.

It looks like the "delicate" painter's tape can be left on for 60 days, I'm gonna give that a try I think

Probably not, I sent them an email about extended use to see.

I would not leave painters tape on the car a long time. Especially not if the car will see sun.

IMO tracwrap or track armor would be better.

FWIW, I used the delicate (pink/purple) painters tape that's good for 60 days. It was on for about 6 weeks and left no residue/damage. The car was kept out of the sun/rain.
