If you want to change your oil cap to reflect the new oil, that part # is 12686472

I know this is going to be an outrageous claim that will make everyone think I'm a nut job, but I swear to God the oil has made a bigger difference in performance than the ported TB I once had on my car.
Why did you pick the 12686472?

12686472 – 2019 Corvette Stingray without Z51
12680708 – 2019 Corvette Stingray with/Z51 or Grand Sport and Z06, ZR1 models.

I am not. I am an owner who spent hours researching this topic, discussing with my SA and went through the trouble of ordering the oil via parts and getting it done under the 2 free service we get and wanted to save the OP the trouble

12686472 was the part number given in a post in the ZL1 Exclusive Facebook group. I ordered one with that part number from Thatgmpartsguy.com, gave them my vin and they sent it to me no questions asked. Isn’t the Stingray without the Z51 a wet sump oil system?

So the difference is wet/dry sump? Do both fit?
I'm just curious.

So I'm going to be changing the oil and diff fluid. What do I need to know? What oil should I use? I really don't pay attention to much oil discussion but I did see Amsoil 5w50 recommended. What oil would a dealer put in if left to their own devices? My car is not tracked or driven a lot. It's a weekend toy and a pampered garage queen.

And what diff fluid should I get? Just a general gear oil or is there a specific product I need to buy? How bad of a job is it?
You've probably got a lot of good responses in here.

GM just put out a new factory fill and service fill of Mobil 1 0W40 ESP for LT1, LT4, and I believe LT5. This oil is intended for track and street use.

Diff is simple...two screws: one on top, one of the bottom...open lower plug, drain, re-plug, open upper plug, fill, replug. 20 minute job including the jack!

I use the factory stuff...I don't have the part number handy, but the limited slip modifier is already in it. You'll want to change it again at 1500 miles...

It doesn't.

But some of us are old school hot rodders. And it goes against everything I learned about engines over the past 40 years to leave "break-in" oil in an engine past 500 miles.

Yes I know that materials science has advanced tremendously over the past 40 years. But some habits die hard...

If you look close both the ZL1 coupe and ZL1 1LE are included.

This^^^. Mobil 1 5w- 30 is fine. Always cracks me up that folks think they should switch when it is the factory recomended oil. Mobil 0W-40 has long been a superior oil in all its versions. I have used the euro version in my GTO since modded, and consumption and valve train noise dropped considerably. Since it is recommended for our LT4's that is a great choice as well. Don't mess with switching diff fluid. To easy to end up with diff noises. Stick with the factory stuff, has the fm included. Crazy easy to change the diff fluid with a pump that attaches to the container. PS- add the dimple plug and also magnets to your oil filter. Done this for years on all my cars.
