They only care about the here and now. About consumerism and 'me me me'. Hell our generation of Millennials are about the most narcissistic generation out there.

So for cars, they probably just see it as an extension of American greed, consumption, and general lethargy.. one more thing to be jealous and wave their e-peen around about their country which is 1/34 the size of Texas.

The world is just so self centered nowadays. It's not just cars anymore..
I think you're right and if I get your sentiment it looks like if we can admit there are some people in the USA that embarass the rest of us, there's also a lot of people in other countries who embarass their countries.

The USA probably gets a bad rap because we succeeded in so many things and when you succeed everyone else is gunning for you.

I'd bet it's a little bit of both...depending on who you're talking about.

It sounds like there's one overaged kid spewing nonsense on YouTube. The guy probably is 11 years old, plays too much Forza, and put in his dad's birthday because he's used to using it to watch porn online. I wouldn't exactly call this kid a class act.

It's not okay to generalize about an entire continent. Guys who like what they like have to justify it to themselves, and we do the same thing. The case for Ferrari is quality and refinement, and it's hard to deny the build quality, flawless body structure, or refined ride of a Ferrari. The case for Chevrolet is the bargain. This guy clearly underestimates the performance of a GM vehicle, and that's going to lose him races and arguments in the long run.

Gee I hate to interrupt what is clearly going to go political but some of the reasons why some European auto purist don`t like American cars probably started back when Ford arrived at Le Mans in the 60`s with their GT40 and beat their sacred Ferrari`s and then more recently Corvette comes along and does the same thing only more often and with regularity.

Some of the those European purist think that only a V12, twin overhead cam, multi-valve with exotic fuel systems engine should be in a race or performance car and the only proper place for an American V8 or any American engine is in a tractor. It drives some of them absolutely crazy when a tractor engine whips up on their expensive, exotic super cars and I love it.

Well, like anything, ''better'' is more about what sort of measuring stick your using, and much of it is subjective.

The analogy that I like to use is wine.

American cars are value wine. Say you buy a 50 dollar bottle of wine, and a 500 dollar bottle of wine.

The 50 dollar bottle of wine gives you the same buzz, the same type of drink, the same quantity, and overall, lets say 70% of the experience of a more expensive wine, at 10% of the price.

For a lot of people, maybe even most of them, thats the better wine.

But what about the people who have the $$ to spend on the $500 bottle? What about the people who have developed the palate to fully appriciate and enjoy that other 30% that you can only get with a nicer wine?

I suspect this is the same reason it occurs in the US as well - people have a sense of entitlement/arrogance/self-righteousness and they feel that whatever speed they are traveling is the "right" speed and everyone else should travel the same speed too.

I used to have this self-righteous attitude in my teens and I know of others who admit to this same self-righteousness.
