Rear Axle Fluid Change

Just looking for some opinions. My 2018 2SS M6 Camaro just turned over 3000 miles. I've heard suggestions that limited slip differentials should have their fluid changed anywhere between 500 miles to 20,000 miles. What is the consensus on this?

Thanks.

Doug

I did, the original fluid was pretty nasty & stinky

I figured it was cheap, easy to do and could not hurt so why not do it?

Most fluids should be changed after the break in period

I changed mine once I hit the 1500 mile break in period. It's easy to do and won't hurt to do it.

Definitely should be changed sooner than later from new. Mine had 5000 mi when I did it and quite a bit of sludge and shavings on the plug.

Did mine at around 1,500. The color was a little gray with some shiny particles mixed in.
Real easy to do.

As long as the correct oil is used, I can't see anything wrong with an early change.

In my case, I'm sticking to the manufacturer's recommended intervals for the tranny and diff. Track use would be the only reason I'd do them sooner. The exception was the engine, which I did around 1100 miles (currently at ~4800 miles).

Changed mine at 20,000 because in the morning when cold and turned out of my neighborhood I could near a slight noise.
After change with correct fluid no noise.
