2017 SS Camaro - Already having problems.

I've had my 2017 SS camaro for 4 weeks. It's been in the shop for 3 weeks. My car is A8 with the MPP exhaust.

Car is making an extremely loud noise when switching between V4 and V8 modes.

Two dealerships could not figure out what it was. Took it to a 3rd dealership and still could not find the problem.

I found a TSB from the Camaro forums from last year. #15-NA-040. Thank goodness I found this.

I showed it to the 3rd dealership and they (1) Questioned how I found out. (2) It could be the issue but wasn't sure.

Turns out this was the issue with my car. So just FYI.

Let's keep the knowledge sharing up to support other Camaro owners ! Thank you very much everyone !!!

TSB:
#15-NA-040: Rattle or Flutter Noise When Switching Between V4 and V8 Operating Modes - Some customers may comment on a rattle noise at 48 km/h (30 mph) to 64 km/h (40 mph) when the engine is switching between V4 and V8 and/or notice fluid leaking from the bellow on top of the tensioner.

Correction- If diagnosis in SI does not isolate the noise, replace the drive belt tensioner.

Use the lemon law and get a new car since no one can fix it.

GM is beyond retarded. I completely regret this car now for simply that reason.

Asking how you found out is extremely telling of a breakdown in process

And then it starts again.. after a fluid change. And then again, after the entire rear diff is replaced. A+++

They changed your rear differential and it took care of the problem? I've only taken mine in once. It's better when it's warm right now. Still an issue when cold and steadily getting worse. I've been holding off taking it back in until there is a recall. Guess I just need to keep taking it in every couple months until they take care of the problem or face a lemon law suit.

I know. I had to take the device bulletin that was posted on here into the dealership because they had no info on it. For as big as this problem is they sure seem to be keeping dealerships in the dark about it.

Differential piece of shit, peeling wheels, interior rattles, misaligned hood and front bumper, squeaky exhaust valves, etc... build quality shit, but total fun.

After hearing so many out there having significant problems with their cars I'm feeling really lucky so far. I've got 19,000+ miles and the only issues I've had were a bad airbag modem as soon s I drove it off the lot and hood not lined up to my satisfaction. Airbag issue fixed after one month of waiting. My car's build date is 10/2015. Is it too soon to think I'm not going to see these rear diff issues?

I am at loss trying to figure out why dealerships don't know about TSBs. Yet, 10 minutes with Google will pull them up usually.

Exactly. So frustrating dealing with service sometimes.

Sometimes. Take a look at the manual for one of their main diagnostic tools, the Tech2.
http://www.auto-diagnostics.info/pdf...sers_guide.pdf
It reads like a DOS manual from 1982! When it comes to something like an SPS update I really would rather they just give me the tool and let me figure it out.
