Gas/Fuel Smell

My only mod is a Mishimoto catch can. I'm getting a strong fuel smell from the front of the car. I've just cleaned the catch can thinking it was that as the fluid it collects has that fuel smell to it. I am still getting some scent.

Anyone else having a similar issue? Mainly I'd like to know if it's catch can related before I have the dealer look at it. The hoses are right, tight etc.

Thanks

I smelled it too. I ditched the can and it went away.

Happened to me also. Went to the dealer, they found a leaky injector on cylinder 4. That was at 560 miles.

Is this the line that goes over top of the plastic engine cover?

So I talked to Mishimoto. I was finding that the hoses have a thin film on them that have a fuel smell on them, but I wasn't seeing any cracks or leaks. The Rep at Mishimoto said he's seen this before on a Mustang where the hoses became porous. They are going to replace the hoses but not until after the 9th as they are in a warehouse move.....

I am going to replace the hoses on the catch can and see if I still have the issue. If so I will mention this to the dealer. Thank you.

I just started noticing the smell. I have a Mishimoto catch can also. I guess if it continues I'll call them.

Another feedback item I'd like to give you guys is that the plastic barbed fittings that thread into the canister don't ever stay tight. Is there a metal fitting option?

The bottom fitting seems to wear off each time it's unscrewed if using a drain hose as well. I ended up using some plumbers tape just around the threads on each fitting there and now to drain it I uninstall it just to unscrew the top. A metal fitting as G Fo12ce mentioned would be great. I occasionally notice a slight fuel smell.

Stainless steel fittings

I didn't even used the supplied plastic fittings. I bought stainless fittings for the can. Bottom one is a ball valve. works great, easy open and close, no leaks.

There a fastener supplier and a race shop that sells some fittings near by. I may go your route. Did you order those online? If so where did you get them?
Thanks.

Appreciate the info. The local place to me Hillco Fasteners has some 3/8 npt thread 1/2 in. barb aluminum fittings in stock. They are black too, same as my can. I'm going to pick those up tomorrow. I just have to wait until the 9th for Mishimoto to replace my hoses.
