There's a constraint on the 6 speeds? Guess they underestimated the number of people who still wanted the manual transmission. When I looked a few weeks ago it was tough to find a 6 speed 2SS at surrounding dealerships.

First off, thank you Becky for taking the time to give us all the info on these situations.

Just placed an order yesterday, looks like I am dealing with the double constraint situation as well. Had considered switching to a different wheel, but not willing to switch to an auto. I believe I understand how this works, as in if there are say 50 units available for allocation, then GM will accept 50 orders, however, I've read multiple times here that GM typically states if a constraint is likely less than, or greater than 4 weeks. Is there any information on this with the current constraints? I don't mind waiting an additional 4 weeks, but if this is a possible months long situation than I'd consider buying the car my dealer has on the lot. Has ceramic white interior which I was hoping to avoid...

How long have people been waiting on the low gloss black wheels at this point?

I've waited 2 weeks, some people have been waiting since December. It's impossible for us to know if those people's dealers had allocations or not and if that's the cause or the wheels.

The constraint on wheels began last week.
The constraint on transmission began today.

As of now, length of constraint has not been published

Thanks Becky. My dealer tells me they have allocation, largest dealer in New England supposedly, let's hope they aren't lying to me. They made me aware of the wheel constraint when I ordered, seems like they know what they're doing.

I'll just wait it out for a bit, and hopefully you will bring us some good news next week!

I used to follow constraints on Arifleet and on Donlen's but neither update regularly anymore. Those sites would indicate if the constraint was engineering validation, supplier, or ramp up based and would also indicate if there was an expected time frame (less than or greater than four weeks) but the less than sometimes lasted for months.

But now I depend on Zymurgy for the Corvette constraints and for the recent past BeckyD for the Camaro constraints.

What really bothers me is that we special order a car to get it exactly the way we want it. We follow all the rules of options only available in certain trims. We wait patiently, and then are told to change the wheels if we want the car built soon, then we are told to switch the transmission, then delete the spoiler...doesn't look like the exact car you wanted anymore! Why order it?

You order so you can get what you want and because some things you may want are not present you must decide if it is worth the wait. The longest I recall waiting for an already in production but held up by a constraint order was three months, but those were three very long months as tons of units were being built and delivered but orders that included the Quaife ATB were waiting. But the wait for the Quaife was so worth it I have an Autotech Wavetrac in my Sonic. (The Wavetrac is an improved USA made version of the English made Quaife.)

I ended up with Quirk. They have a dealer in NH also but because I was in the Boston area... I live in western MA. I will say that going to the larger dealers I got much better quotes than at home.
