Clicking noise when turning

I know this has already been discussed in another section but I was wondering if anyone with a zl1 had experienced it. I noticed it today, guessing it's the same issue others have had and seems to be a pretty simple fix.

I posted a thread about it. I had it on my new 1LE.

took the wheels off, hosed down the hub on the wheel the mounting surface on the rotor with brake cleaner and wiped it all down.

Hasn't came back. There was small traces of what looked like grease. I have no idea why it would cause clicking but anyway, it hasn't came back.

This is interesting. My buddy with a hellcat says that they have an issue like that and has to do with floating rotors on the large brembos. could be the same thing and its claimed to be normal.

^^This^^. I had the same problem, and the service dept cleaned the hub. They said it's pretty common on the c7s.

Cleaned the rotor hats and inner wheel hubs with break cleaner and clicking noise is gone. Suprised that no one else with a zl1 had experienced this. It was pretty loud and did it with turning the wheel even a little in either direction. Also suprised that the little bit of grease and grime that I removed even made a difference. Wonder how that causes it to make a clicking noise. Also installed the front rock guards and with only 800 miles had some noticeable chips on the inner lower fender well, this should def one of the first mods after a thorough paint correction and some ppf installed on key areas.

How many miles you have on your car now? Just curious I started noticing on mine at about 600. I'm pretty sure cleaning them will do the trick, all that have reported the issue did this simple fix and good to go. I still don't understand why it would click because of this. I'm wondering since it didn't do it initially if it has something to do with the build up of brake dust. Also is it going to be a reoccurring issue. There might be some more info on the corvette forum because I think they were the first to experience it.

Pretty sure that is noise you hear in this video.

I'll check my hub faces for grease etc.

Wow 1st time I hear about this ticking noise and so glad thst more people have this. I have noticed ticking on the right side wheel area when turning. You really notice it when in a closed parking garage. I was ready to take it to the dealership.

So my question is how do you exactly do this. Do you just remove the wheel and clean the hub surface or do you have to remove the rotor and also the hub and clean the splines?

I have it too, I'm not worried. Should I be? I checked my Essex SS brake lines and everything looked ok.

The problem is galvanic corrosion at the wheel/hub interface (where the aluminum contacts the steel hub).

1. Remove the wheel.
2. Clean both wheel and hub surfaces very well. If the corrosion is bad, use a wire brush.
3. Remount the wheel. Lug Nut torque 140 ft-lbs.

^ Better yet use a sonic crafter with triangular sanding disc to smooth the uneven surfaces - worked great on my SS
