Penzoil platinum is pretty good stuff, I ran the one step down in my old jeep and had great results. Sounds like a good deal, what kind of filter did you get?

Yeah, that's a good deal...just walked out of O'Reilly's with 10 quarts of Mobil 1 (only comes in 5 quart bottles now!) and a Wix filter for something like $77. (Actually, I had to buy $200 worth of oil and filters because all 4 cars/trucks came up for their oil changes at the same time...)

I miss the days of $4/qt oil changes!

wow you really had to spend some money there. i was able to get the 20 dollar deal i think it was with a filter for my other car. so between the two i think i spent like 70 dollars

GM seems to go out of their way to point out that only oil meeting their GM 4718M standard is good enough for our engines. Out of idle curiosity, is this particular standard listed on your Pennzoil container? I could be compelled to break old habits and change, as these $200 oil changes are...umm...well, that's a helluva lot of beer $200 could buy.

Yes, Pennzoil Platinum and also Ultra both meet the new GM spec.

Sorry for being cryptic about this! It'll be somewhere on the oil bottle, just look for the phrase "GM 4718M". (Thanks haulnash for verifying...)

Must be a regional thing...Michigan doesn't have PP buy one get one free...And that's all I use.
