Spark Plugs

Hello,
my 2010 Camaro SS 6.2L hesitate on acceleration. At the traffic light waiting for the light to change and shift and step on the gas it with two studders then go but no other misfires. My question will aftermarket spark plugs cause the 2010 Camaro to misfire? The dealer said that I need to change back to the original spark plugs (I have E3 Plugs in it now and change the coils to accel coils).

Why did you put Accel coils and E3 plugs in the car?

Did you possibly crack a plug when you installed them? Was it acting up prior to the plug change?

I was wondering the same thing. I totally get wanting to make improvements to the stock ignition system. I have never used E3 plugs, but I have heard of these engines being a bit sensitive to certain plug types. The Accel coils should be fine though, unless there is an actual malfunction. I've seen them used on a few builds previously without issue.

But it's not like the days of the old SBC, where there were actual improvements to be had from changing to an aftermarket coil on an HEI system. Our stock ignition stuff is very robust.

Anyhow, I would suggest trying to swap back to stock plugs and see if that makes a difference.

Same here.^^^ I would swap back to "normal" plugs in this instance to see if that clears up your problem. I haven't heard of anybody else using the E3's in their 5th gen. I also have the Accel coil packs on my build and have had them for about 3 years now with no issues. Good luck..

I bought the car used and it wasn't supposed to be a daily driver. well anyway somewhere around a year ago the car started running rough for some reason. Anyway it was missing terribly running rough like it wanted to stall out, I took it to Autozone to have the code read and it indicated that number one cylinder was misfire (POOO3) I bought a new coil listing to the guy at Autozone and it ran okay for a while then the same thing happen again (Stability Track indicator come on the display then off) when cranking the car then goes out So, I took it back to the dealer where I bought it and had it service on a regular bases and have them do a diagnostic on it and it was a bad injector and coil. So 500.00 later it ran okay for a while I did know how old were the coils or the plugs were in the car. I used the E3 plugs before in my Mitsubishi 3000 GT and they increase the gas mileage and power so, why not used them they should not mess with the ECU change the wire to because you can't buy one spark plug wire. But still hesitate on acceleration. Bought a code reader, the car has no codes, but still hesitate. Took it to the Chevy dealer they did a diagnostic on it said you have aftermarket items and aftermarket plugs suggest you put the original plug back in so I was planning on doing so but it turned cold, but I notice they replace the number one plug with a regular plug. The car still hesitate on accelerating when stopped at the traffic light. I thought I could get some advice but I'll figure it out.

HOJO: I did not crack a plug. i started them by hand first. Yes the car was doing this prior to the coil and spark plug change.

I wouldn't run an E3 spark plug in my lawnmower.

Get some NGK or Denso Iridium plugs a good set of quailty wires and go back to your stock coils (unless there is a legit problem with them).

AC Delco or NGK plugs ,check wires and coils and I bet your problems are over. I like the NGK copper V power plugs . They don't last as long as the iridium's ,but the price is right and I change them when needed .

Coils are over 10 years old time for them to be changed out anyway. i have Taylor 8mm spark plug wires on, not those thin factor wires that are prone to heat. I'll may put the original plugs back in when the weather breaks here.

So you are running 1 original plug, with 7 after-market plugs? Didn't know you could mix and match. If that was indeed the case, go back to original(AC Delco) if you have no objections. and experiment with your gas choices. V6 can run all. You can run 91 I think, as well as 93. See if this will help. I got the plugs and will be changing the coils(both AC Delco). I have to take it to the dealer for the new cat, since I am posting the P420 CEL. They said it was cat and two ig coils for estimate of $1800.00 bones.
