2016 Camaro SS2 coolent smell inside cab

Has anyone experienced a coolent smell inside the car. I havent found any leaks inside or outside of the car. It's not a all the time smell, so I cant predict exactly when it happens.

Things ive already done:

Replaced to thermostat
Replaced the Coolent Temp Sensor
Burped system several times

Im not sure what else I can dohttps://www.camaro6.com/forums/images/smilies/mad0260.gif

This is really pissn me off

I guess my first question is why throw parts at it. Did it overheat with a stuck "open" thermostat, was the sensor misreading, are you losing coolant, does the heater work properly, have you monitored coolant temp or ran a pressure test on the system. I would think if there was a leak in a pressurized system it would show itself pretty quick. Have you checked your cabin filter see what it smells like. I have heard of the outside temp sensor going haywire and causing problems, is it reading the outside temp accurately. It's tucked in the left side of the grill. Stuff like that can be frustrating, good luck tracking it down.

If the smell dissipates as quickly as it appears and is infrequent, it could be nothing more than being just the smell of coolant being drawn into the cabin, possibly after being vented out of the overflow tank if the system needs to move coolant to that tank when hot. I've gotten a coolant smell inside the cabin of many vehicles I've owned at some point in time and have never had an actual leak.

Agree with many comments above.
Are you actually noting coolant loss? Is the level dropping and are you adding coolant?

Coolant smell can be potent, particularly if dripping onto hot exhaust.
I would try pulling out the cabin filter, wrapping it in plastic (like a grocery bag), and reinstalling. Obviously don't drive the car like this for too long. But this should reduce the odor if you are, in fact, drawing in the smell from the engine bay.

Sealed system

Modern cooling systems are sealed, they no longer vent to the atmosphere. The overflow tank is pressurized with a pressure cap. Must be another explanation for the smell. If it truly is coolant, there must be a leak.

1) Go to Car
2)Start car
3)Let Warm Up
4)Turn on front window defrost highest heat and blower settings
5)Look at inside windshield to see if it slowly develops a white film on it.
After letting it blow for a while run you finger across the windshield to see if itd wiping away a film thats formed. If you have a film then its your heater core. You should also be smelling it.

If it is the heater core, would you advise him to try Bar's Radiator and Heater Core stop leak? Or have the heater core replaced?

Have the core replaced because it will get worse before it gets better.

My girl's V6 Challenger had similar, small leak that wouldn't spot the driveway or leave any other telltale signs than the distinct odor. She traded out of it before it got any worse. One independent mechenic ID'd a small rust spot that had some moisture on it IIRC. Dont' they make a die for leak identification that you put in the radiator?

Replace it, cuz the leak stop may clog up the flow somewhere else.
