Clear Bra?

hey guys, has anyone gotten clear bras?

If so where (on the car) did you get the film and how much (approximate) did it run you?

I found my first rock chips today, all on the front bumper, one down do the plastic ( ) and I've decided that if I'm gonna spend the money to get it fixed, I'm going to get it clear bra'd immediately afterwards.

Can you show pics? And are you going to get the clear over the chips or get it fixed?

I'll go out and snap pics now.

What I meant was; if I'm gonna spend the money to have a good body shop to fix the scratch down to the plastic, and polish out the others (which just put tiny indents in the clear coat), I'm going to go the extra mile and get it clear bra'd after getting the paint fixed.

My apologies for the confusion.

This is down to, what I'm assuming is, the plastic since its black underneath.

Rock Chip 1

Rock Chip 2, it looks white but its the reflection, just an indent in the clear coat

Rock chips 3, the other things in the pictures are some remnants of bugs

The only one I would be a little worried about is the one down to the plastic, the others should be able to be fixed no problem. I would definitely get the clear bra over it after its touched up, now to get it done is another question. There are some body shops where I live that do it, but if there are none local to you, the next option would be to order it yourself and apply it. Or you can take it to someone who is more able to do it.

I spoke to my salesman since I had the car zylon'd. I asked about the warranties and stuff and he called me back to ask why I was asking.

I show him the pics and he told me that the GM warranty on paint issues is 3 years and asked me to bring it over on Friday so we can have the body shop look at it. Its completely possible that they might fix it at no cost to me and I would insist that they re-spray the bumper since you can't fix that with touch-up paint and have it not be noticeable.

So on Friday I'll see what they say. And there's a very reputable clear-bra installer by my mothers house. I'd have them do the work on the bra side.

So my question still stands; where did everyone get it on the car?

I'm thinking the entire front bumper (painted portion) and rocker panels (behind each wheel/gills) etc.

Again, if I do it, I'm gonna do it right.

You're looking at roughly $1,500 to clearbra these areas
1. bumper
2. half hood plus top of front fenders
3. area behind front fenders
4. rocker panels
5. mirrors
6. area in front of rear renders

If you touch up the rock chips, you'll need to wait at least 1 month for the paint to dry before applying clear bra.

Rock chips will happen. Just have to live with it if you want to drive the car...

Thanks for the info man!

If I can get the car fixed this month (the paint repaired) it will be put away basically for the winter. (it tends to start snowing in mid october in this part of PA, so as soon as they start salting the roads, she'll get garaged 'til spring and come spring I'll have the clear bras installed.

Good to know I got some time on it.

Oh if you want to repaint the entire bumper, then you'll have to wait at least 2 months to be safe. I would wait 3 months though...

I'm not sure if the body shop at my dealership does clear bra installations.

But if I need to wait to have the paint cure before clear bra'ing the car, I'll just wait until after winter to get it done.

My Vert is scheduled to get clear bra (Avery Nanofusion) done next Tuesday. Th esame guy does all the clear bra for the dealers Vetts.

This is the same clear bra I had the same guy apply to my 2011 Vert.

The cost to get the front facia, the mirrors and the gills done is $900.

That does not include the bottom front splitter which would cost another $200, but since the lower splitter is not painted, they suggested it wasn't worth it.

Yea, I would just have the painted portions of the front fascia done, the gill areas and thats pretty much it.
