ZL1 M6 transmission fluid

I’m looking to change the fluid on my ZL1 1LE 6 speed. What’s everyone’s preference on transmission fluid for these cars? I see that TREMEC makes their own fluid, but haven’t heard much about it. Thanks

I put the Tremec fluid in my ZLE. Better shifting at track temps, but worse cold on the street.

Good to know. Thanks for the info. So would you not recommend it on a car for street use with some track use?

It’s fine on the street. It just takes a little longer to warm up before it shifts smoothly. I made the switch because I was having some issues with quick downshifts at the end of a track session in hot weather. No reason to switch if the stock fluid is working well for you.

+1 on the fluid. Although experienced no differences.

I went to the Tremec MTF, no differences noted.

In my '17 SS 1LE I switched to Amsoil Signature Series ATF fluid and noticed an improvement in how smooth the transmission shifted, so I'll be putting that in my current car in the next month or so.

I was having issues with notchy shifting especially getting in to first when the trans was cold. I ended up going with Royal Purple and the cold shifting is much improved. I don't track the car (yet) so I can't comment on its performance there. It appears most fluids help with cold shifting or with shifting while on the track but none seems to work the way you would want at all temps.

I put the Royal Purple Synchromax in my 2018 ZL1 as well. I have put around 4000 miles on it since the change and it is great. Even does well in the cold. It was 28F yesterday when I drove it to work.

I changed from OEM factory fill to Tremec MTF after 2 years and ~10k miles... I see no real difference, only time my car is notchy is when I start it on a cold morning and I have a little resistance getting it into Reverse to back out of garage, and it only takes a firmer push to engage. Once I'm rolling, 1st and 2nd engage easy even on a cold morning/night, but I'm in Los Angeles so cold is ~48 F.

I recommend the Tremec MTF because it's made by Tremec for their 6060, during 4 track days in December it was perfectly smooth shifting.

How often you supposed to change the fluid?
