Even Porsche GT cars only get charged $450 for an oil change.

So anything over $200+ for a Chevy is a big no no. Sorry.

If you are using the car on the track, and you intend to ensure you don't void your warranty, you need to use 0W-40 dexos2 oil. If you are NOT tracking the car, you can use 5W-30 dexos1.

Personally, my car will NEVER see the track, so I have no issue using Kirkland (Costco) 5W-30 dexos1 Gen2 oil (and it's on GM's list of approved oils) which costs me under $30 for two 5 quart jugs. With a Mobil 1 filter, cost out of my pocket is $40 and it's super easy to do it in my own garage in about 20-30 minutes.

They said it requires Mobil 1 ESP 0W-40. Which I found online for $7.81 per quart as opposed to their $18.77. I've had a good exchange with their dealer rep, we'll see what he has to say about that kind of markup.

The car requires 0W-40 dexos2 -ONLY- for track use. Pull your owner's manual and read it... It specifically states that 5W-30 dexos1 is acceptable for street use.

This is no different than when the Gen6 first came out except that GM stated you needed to use 5W-30 dexos1 but for track use you needed to change to 0W-40 dexos2. All they did was flip the standard and the exception. Use cases have not changed nor has the required oil that goes with them.

That was my next step. You have to realize I just assumed it was going to be around $100 or $125 so I didn't ask.

Hey Capt... we were talking on another thread about oil. You sent the Rock auto link to the Mobil 1. Good price.
Now on to filter? They list the AC Delco and then other supposedly higher quality filters from Wix and others.
In my truck I use the stock Ford filters because they have an anti drain back valve of sorts supposed to limit the dry start up.
That was what everyone recommended over even ones costing more.
What are people using in their Camaros?

I'm using the AC Delco PF64 filter, this way there will be no questions if there is a warranty issue...

My "new to me" 2019 1LE goes for an oil change tomorrow. The PO did it himself, so there is no maintenance history, so I wanted to get that started. I was quoted $69 for an oil change. I'm assuming they're using dexos 1 5w30 for it. Will I get better protection using the 0w40? My Scat used 0w40 and it was $190 every oil change.

If you're taking it to a GM dealership, ask for more details on the work to be performed in writing before they take it in. There appears to be a sort of 'one size fits all' that many dealerships are using and they may be quoting you using that oil as a baseline (and very well may put that oil in, even if it's not one of the oils that GM recommends / requires).

$69 sounds suspiciously like a "standard" 6 quart oil change with a cheaper oil. Make sure they put 10 quarts into your car.

I've gotten the 8.5 quart capacity handled by my Chevy dealer in my Silverado multiple times for under $60. And that's with a full syn oil that they HAVE to be buying by the tanker truck. I just wonder if it's the 0W-20 dexos1 that my truck requires...

They should be ashamed to charge that much.

Well not surprisingly the dealer rep who asked for my feedback on service, stopped replying once I pointed out a quick google search found the same quart of oil for $10 cheaper PER quart. That $255 could have easily been $155 and I wouldn't have said a thing to them or online.
Understanding I should have asked before I went in for service. Lesson learned. Next up 5W-30 dexos1 apparently.
