6th gear on ZL1 1LE (wish it had better model name.. jumble of letters if kn stupid) is a joke.
80mph is like 2500 rpms. 60mph, about 2000.

The ZL1 1LE has a closer ratio 6th gear over the ZL1. IIRC the difference is 0.54 vs. 0.68.

Yeah 6th is shorter in the ZLE but it allows it to reach a higher speed when stock. 6th gear is useless in the regular ZL1 M6 except for cruising. Top speed is achieved in 5th and is about 170-175 MPH. Whereas the ZLE does 190 I believe it is.

...so from the start your rear diff in the manual is 3.73 vs 2.85 for the auto (either car), and with the shorter 6th on the 1LE at .68 vs .54 you loose it on top speed but that is not a main factor for this car, being focused on road courses where you'd prefer the gears working for you.

How do I swap out a ZL1 1LE 6th gear for the ZL1 I’ve got? Is it possible? 6th gear is garbage on the standard ZL1.
