Keep enjoying that beast, I definitely miss it sometimes. I still agree with others and the posters above, it is amazing what Chevy has done with this platform. I was actually looking at a couple of new SS1LEs in my area, but they weren’t budging off of 50k. Plus my wife (who is one of the coolest around IMO, especially in regards to my car hobby/addiction), said I’ve always wanted a Porsche so why not try it out. I know what the Camaro is all about and can always go back.
You probably had more grip than I do in the ZLE compared to the SS 1LE, although, I have the track alignment on mine as well and it did make a difference in overall grip.

I will do the same thing with the GT4, I will get a track alignment and rear toe links in the rear. I have watched a couple of videos on YouTube of the GT4 on the street and the G's it pulls on a on/0ff ramp is right there with my SS 1LE on fresh tires, so I think they will be just about equal once I get the alignment on the GT4.

Even the magazines give the SS 1LE and 718 GT4 very close to the same lateral G's on their 300 ft. circle testing.

Obviously I will be faster as well in a straight line in PDK form, as Porsche says 3.7 and they are pretty conservative. SS 1LE I believe comes in right around 4.1 to 4.0

what is so revolutionary/game changing about the rear cradle mounts?

It tightens up the rear-end and gets rid of the lateral movement.

It also helps to mask a bit of the car's weight as the rear takes an immediate set and you don't need to make mini mid-corner steering wheel adjustments chasing the rear-end.

It doesn't really make the car any faster, but it makes the car FEEL much better in quick transitions and even steady state mid-corners, which in turn gives you as the driver more confidence to push harder.

What was the full cost including install?

Like $1,200 The part is like $350ish, the install is a bitch, but well worth it.

It can probably be done quicker now as many more have done it and have techniques to make it faster.

When I did mine, it hadn't really been done and couldn't find anything online, so my race shop took a little longer. I also asked them to not use a torch to get the rubber bushings out (due to potential metal fatigue) so they had to jigsaw them out in pieces, which added time to the install.

IMO, well worth the hassle though. I am anal when it comes to handling and feel. If a car doesn't give me confidence to push it harder and harder, then it isn't a good driver's car to me.

i've noticed the stock cradle bushings are pretty soft. under hard acceleration it feels like the car is trying to pull itself apart... in a straight line. i certainly don't want that sensation in a corner. i bought a bmr lockout setup. hoping to solidify the back a bit. i wanted the zl1 stuff but it's unobtanium at this point.

I hear the lock-out kit works well too. It gets rid of like 90% of the motions back there and it's reversible.

I thought about the lock-out kit before going with the ZLE solid ones, but me being anal, I wanted 100% movement eliminated, not 90%.

Theoretically, they (SS 1LE and GT4) are close or equal in terms of outright performance, but the Cayman GTS doesn't give up much and that'd probably be my porsche pick. There are some light mods you can do to it to make it a little faster and aggressive, if you wish. If I got the Cayman, PDK, it's just matched for that car.
I have test driven a couple of them now and I can tell you the GT4 is NOTHING like the ZLE in terms of harshness.

The GT4 is totally daily drivable, yes it is stout and firm, but not harsh and does not doesn't make you think you are on a pogo stock like the ZLE does.

A buddy of mine has a 718 Spyder. No seat time yet but it is nasty.

I test drove the previous Cayman S (6 cylinders) with the PDK, and wasn't impressed at all.
Not enough power or engine/exhaust sound for me.
Probably a ME with 8 cylinders. That would be a better choice for me.

Not in the same league as the PDK GT4, not a fair comparison. I have test drove two of them now, and I did not feel it lacking in power at all. Felt just as quick (if not slightly quicker) than my SS 1LE and that was the manual version.

The PDK version has a 0-60 time that is conservatively .4 seconds quicker than the SS 1LE.

If money not an issue I would rather get the gt4. More paint options to choose from and other options, better looking, holds value better, exclusivity and its a Porsche.

That's stupid. If money is no object, why would you have to choose?
