ZL1 vs $1,000,000 in Supercars

Hey Guys, I thought I'd share this little edit I put together from Buttonwillow. Again sorry for the poor audio, I just purchased an external mic and will work on getting some quality audio in the future.

Just out of curiosity what is a fast laptime for a non 1LE ZL1 at this track? My best lap of the day was 01:58.773 which was my 70th of 84 laps for the day on completely bald corded Goodyear factory tires. Excited to see what I can do on fresh Cup 2's!

Also looking for 19 inch affordable wheel and tire options for the track? Would love some suggestions.

That's some great driving - and cool video cut!!

...I think I do regret getting the ZL1 1LE sometimes, and not being able to use that A10...

A quick google search shows some lap times in the 2:00 + some change. I'd say you're moving!

Beautiful driving and great job on the video.

Any reason you stuck with 'race' PTM and not one of the sport options?

I had a buddy run a 56 in someone else’s a10 there. He said he was driving about 8/10s, talking with the owner doing some instruction the few laps he had it out. He was flat out amazed at how the car handles and brakes considering how big/heavy it is. Regardless a 58 is still cookin for a stock car on street tires.

Great video and better driving- Well done! Gotta feel good hanging with the high dollar supercars in "just a Camaro"

Also found it curious that the YouTube video right after yours was a French car show comparing a 5th Gen ZL1 to a Hellcat? Wonder what the French would think about the 6th Gen.

Ive never done this type of driving in a nonrace car. Your driving looks awesome, but my question is "Why do the cars in front of you slow down after awhile and wave you by?" Is this some type of rule or do they just get tired of the intensity of having a car follwing them?

That was called a "point-by". In most driving groups at HPDEs like this, there are passing rules to ensure communication of intent and therefore safe passing by other cars. When a driver rides up your behind, and is capable of producing a better lap time than you, it is courtesy to point them by. If you don't, you could get flagged for impeding traffic...not to mention the irritation back in the pits when the session is over.

Thank you for the explanation. I haven’t gotten into tracking the car yet, but would like to. I was curious about this as well. Thanks OP for the vid, looks like you are moving out there! It’s been great learning from all of the guys on this forum!

I thought maybe they had to pull over to cry because of the menace in their rear view. Lol
