Shift Light on HUD

My 2020 2SS did not have the progressive shift light. Kind of freaked me out my new car does. Still in the process of reading the owners manual while in the break in period (1500) miles.

I believe it's been there at least since 2019 with the refresh and the infotainment upgrade. This video from 2020 shows shift lights on the HUD.

Hope you found the wireless CarPlay / Android Auto, pretty much the only main feature introduced since 2020 sadly.

There's a way you have to enable it on the older cars. Some youtube vids about it

Shift lights are factory enabled only on the SS 1LE, ZL1 and ZL1 1LE. I'll try to find those youtube videos, I'd love to see them on my 2SS.

It's helpful, especially on the track. I've found that the even though the gears are long, the RPMs tend to rise quickly for the last 1500 or so in 2nd and 3rd gear. It's nice to have the shift lights start to light up to help you from bouncing off the rev limiter.

Wow, I get shutting off features to differentiate trims but that feels like them commenting out the code for it. Wonder if WAMS can enable it…

I've been searching for a while - do you have a link perhaps? Can't get mine to work on an A10 SS 1LE.

I caught where the guy said the shift lights only appear above 4,000 RPM.

I guess that explains why I haven’t seen mine yet lol

You will get in trouble fast winding this puppy up past 4k in each gear lol

I believe another thread discussing this seemed to discover the A10’s don’t have shift lights while the M6’s do. I couldn’t get my shift lights to show in any mode

Is there a shift light option on the 2016-2018 SS models?

Yeah they only activate at high RPMs. Honestly I'm pretty sure it's higher then 4000. They seem to pop up and disappear very quickly, probably not until 5000 RPM or so. Threw me off when I was able to open up my car after break in, didn't realize they were even a thing, and since it happened so quick it didn't seem useful. It didn't take long to get the groove though, honestly I just thought of it like the shift lights in a video game. Scary thought at first since this is a real engine and I don't ever like to hit the rev limiter, but it does seem to line up very nicely with where I'd like to shift at WOT so it ends up feeling very natural. But yeah, gives me that video game feel I guess cause it's just floating there like how it would look in a game

If it's a 2018 SS 1LE: Yes.

Yes on the SS 1LE, no on the SS.

Apparently GM thought it would be a nice 1LE "addition" to comment (or feature switch) out this one line in the HUD module source code for the SS. @Summit20171SS you could ask WAMS if they can turn it back on, at least for the M6 and manual shift mode on the A8.

Oh ok yea mine is a 1SS, so I don't have it then, how would they be able to turn that on?
