Buy, Sell, Hold?

I have been thinking of selling my 5th gen frequently over the last few years.
Now that GM announced the retirement of the Camaro much like the 35th anniversary back in 2002 we probably can't expect a 7th gen to come out anytime in the next decade.
Related I got a new fuel pump assembly installed to fix a minor gas leak recently and it reminded me both that this car is getting older and that 5th gen Camaro's are amazing as that is the only major repair I have needed in 13 years since I got it!
I am not sure if I am looking for someone to talk me out of selling or talk me into buying a '23 2SS but I actually signed up to post this topic and see what other Camaro enthusiasts have been thinking about doing given the recent news!

Yes, I name cars, but they don't seem to mind.

The 6th gen just doesnt do it for me, so I'm keeping mine. Like you said, almost zero issues with your car!

As stated above, all the 6th gens didn't do it for me either!! Once they made the front look like a Lexus, took away the "original" side gills on the rear quarters, styled the body to look like a Mustang from the side, AND put those weird looking tail lights on it, it was all over for me! Keep your 5th gen!! They were the FIRST rendering of the "new generation" of Camaros, and became very popular!! They are by far the best looking Camaros on the road!!

I have had several Gen6 camaros, they are nice cars and they are fast. Man the sheet metal them is super thin though. I wouldnt be afraid to try one if I was you. The latest revisons with the 10 speed auto is so smooth shifting.

I would like to have a ZLE, but I would have to sell both my 5th gens and still would not have enough to close the deal. Same situation for a C8. I'm hanging on to mine because I know them inside and out. The SIM vert is built like the hot girl in the neighborhood but with a great attitude and the red turbo car is her roided out obnoxious brother. Plus, it won't take long and Gen6 parts will be just as hard to find as Gen5.

2011 Vert - 416/w 230/236 .612/.602 115lsa, 1LE suspension w/32mm rear bar. Z28 diff. ZL1 brakes.

Indeed, when I was considering the IPF supercharger for giggles I changed my mind after it took 10x longer to reverse engineer and tune the 2011 than it did to replace all the pipes etc. I heard (on here) that 2012+ are easier to tune and so forced induction is more feasible.

I have less time to get my hands dirty these days and most of the DIY and performance shops I knew around here did not survive C19. If I did upgrade ZL1 vs ZLE would be the big debate as this would likely be my last Camaro!

I'm keeping both of mine PLUS I just found a nice low mileage 94 Z28 that I'm serious about buying. My neighbor has a 6th gen, its just doesn't do anything for me. If thats all I can buy it could be a choice though, both mine are getting up there is miles.

hold onto it.5th gens are built like tanks.i survived a collision with a semi in mine and insurance repaired it.good as new,and safer than most cars IMO...required a driver rear quarter, door, window glass and drivers side rear wheel.

Not a 5th gen fan. Can tell if it wants to be retro or not. Awesome when launched but now seems dated. Especially the interior. Just my opinions

Plus only problem you’ve had in 10 years….. will it be only problem you have in next 10?

You’ll also be getting into the newer LT1 and getting a lot more creature comforts

I personally would go for 1SS 1LE over a non 1LE 2SS.

2SS 1LE if you can budget it

Precisely.

Runs like a champ now but I still remember spending $$$$ to keep the Z28 running in tip-top condition once upon a time. My thinking then was a car payment is less than the maintenance so that's when I traded it in for the 5th gen and got far more than a I paid for it.

Getting more than I paid is not the case with an aftermarket LS though. Dealership offered 7K, carmax was 8600, I don't have time for private party but presumably that would be somewhere around 12K maybe? Might as well just keep it but at the same time I kind of want one of the last unicorns now that second retirement is announced.

I had both versions of the ZL1. Had a 6 speed(red), and a 10 speed auto version(yellow). They are pretty quick, but in the end got tired of paying for them. Honestly a lot more car than I would really ever use on the street. The SS is plenty fast, w/o the super charger.

I have to concur with this. I'm not trying to rain on any 6th gen owner's parade but I just didn't like the front end change-up to the grill, not to mention the gills disappearing on the side - among other things.
