Is this a factory badge?
I just spotted this under the hood of my 2015 again. I'd noticed it before but never have give it much thought. My 2013 doesn't have this. Both cars are SS/RS vehicles.
I'm wondering if this is a factory badge or indication of some aftermarket hi-po goodie someone added or even just a random, metal plate someone had laying around and stuck on the cover over the fan shroud. You can tell the approximate size by the bolt head in the pic.

Yes, that looks like it came from the factory. My 2010 (built in March 2009) had a similar one, but it had the GM logo instead of the bow tie.

The early ones were the GM style, I think they were gone toward the end of the ‘10 model year, they disappeared as part of the bail out stuff, The GM fender chicklettes were the same. The later Chevy style came back mid model run I think in 2012 or 2013, maybe it was ‘14… I did some research on this when I first bought my old car and this is the overview as I remember it…

Mystery solved! Thanks guys. Was this on all cars? V8 and V6s or just the V8 cars?

Also, I just confirmed that my 2013 also has the Chevy style Performance badge under the hood. Not sure why I thought it didn't have it.

My old car didn’t have them either. I think they were gone by early October of ‘09, my last car was a 10/28/09 build, the current car is a 05/07/09 build and obviously has them. For a few years from ‘07-‘09 GM put them everything, I don’t remember the exact reason that they had to be removed but I do know it was part of the bail out stuff like I said. You know what, now that you mention it I believe when they first came back in ‘12 or ‘13 they were the GM variant for a year or two before going to the Chevy style, I had forgotten that. Sorry guys it’s been 4-5 years since I did this research.

Appreciate the research and information from you and everyone else here! I'm a data hound when it comes to my car hobbies. Even if I don't remember ALL the details, the next time I see a chiclet or a performance badge, I'll at least know that they were used on certain cars in certain years.

Our 2010 SS got a GM performance division badge, built in October, 2009.
Our 2013 ZL1 'vert got a Chevy bowtie performance badge, built in Jan, 2013.
