Were you in 5th gear for your top speed of 182-813?
That's the way my 1994 is 5th gear for top speed and 6th is the overdrive.

Definitely something going on for the OP to be limited to 134.... Mechanical issues, or some teen driver glitch...

Do you need your seatbelt on for the radio to play music?

I have the service manual for 2016-17. 13,028 pages and I get only one hit when I search for "speed limited."
Is it possible there was a thermal issue which triggered the warning? You did not mention any DTC, and I figure you would say so if that were the case.

DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION AND PROCEDURES > DTC C0574: PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD TEMPERATURE SENSOR > ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
The electronic suspension dampening level is decreased or disabled.
The Service Suspension System and Vehicle Speed Limited messages are displayed.

Thanks there were absolutely no messages. I took it by a dealer today and they seem to think that since i bought a leased vehicle they may have programmed this limiter. Their main speed guy was out today but I'm going to bring it back monday for him to take a look at it. Can anyone point me to the documentation that states the 180mph speed limiter is from the factory? I want have some ammunition if they try to day they can't do anything about it.

Here is a link to the Chevrolet Camaro Brochure for 2018. On page 25 it has all the factory specs listed. It shows that the SS Coupe has a top speed of 180MPH, SS 1LE 175MPH. I know it's not a technical manual but it is the official GM Sale brochure

Anyone know why the 1le is limited lower than standard?

It's limited by the power and aerodynamics.... More downforce = less top speed

Good points.. I'm not sure how much the tire width makes but having more road resistance and wind drag from the tires I'm sure plays into the top speed. I'm sure someone will chime in with more info then me on that one.

Its actually having some issues now so maybe once they're addressed it will fix this. Just curious if anyone else has ran into this message.
There weren't any noticeable issues (noises/messages/codes) when I encountered this.
If they are the factory Eagle F1 Supercar G:2 tires, those should be (Y) rated at 186 plus mph... "Y" rated, no parenthesis, tires are good up to 186.... I run the (Y) rated tires on the front of my Camaro and they have been over 225 mph....

My GMC Denali one ton is governed at 95 mph. GM, like most manufacturers will govern the car based on the tire speed rating for a given model. The base model 2010 - Camaro with steel wheels was governed at 112 mph. The car had the same power plant, but the tire speed rating limited the top speed.

Either way, just get a tune and the tuner can easily remove the top speed limiter.
144 at a half mile is pretty impressive. The equates to a 170 ish mph at one mile... Very respectful...Your sig says you drive a Dodge, was that in your Dodge or in your Camaro.... Just curious... I saw a bone stock brand new Hellcat run 182 at the mile...

Both 5th and 6th gear are overdrive gears. 4th gear is the 1-1 gear. Some cars make enough power to continue hard acceleration in 5th and some even in 6th.... I can't shift to 6th when I'm running hard, but I accelerate like a bat out of heck in 5th....

^^^^^^^^^^^^ This.... You trade off speed for ground force....

I run lots of downforce but I'm not trying to turn.... I'm trying to not go flying.... The ground force slows me some but I just push harder on the loud pedal.... and....

"If you can turn, you are not going fast enough...."

Is it possible the car was ordered with optional tires? I thought 1LE always came with Eagle F1 Supercar 3, and not sure if it's possible to order anything else, like run-flats or all-seasons. But with my old BMW at least, if you ordered the car with run-flats or all-seasons, the speed was electronically limited to 135 I believe, and changing the tires later would not change it. Can you check the build sheet or use a VIN decoder to see the original options?

I think someone set this in the initial menu. You need to have the "code" thats been programmed. I think you can reprogram. Car has to be parked with parking brake ENGAGED.

Can offer more detail on this or point me in the right direction in the manual. Also to another above poster, it came from the factory with the standard 1le tires.

Not sure the limiter is actually set lower in the 1LE. However the wider tires in my opinion will slow it down a little (more aerodynamic drag) compared to the normal SS with the skinnier tires. Don't know how the 1LE's front splitter/rear duckbill spoiler compare to the no splitter/rear wing setup of a base SS as far as drag. I have only seen 1LE cars in passing, do they use the front tire deflectors under the bumper like a base SS does? The parts that I'm talking about are the ones that get removed when you install the SS brake deflector kit for road course use.
