The digital readout display should not show your battery being much if at all below 12 volts. If it does your battery is abnormally discharged or if the engine is on, it could be a sign that the battery is bad.
The on demand charging system in this car turns off when not needed but that should only happen when the battery is fully charged, so while the engine is on you should see about 12.5 v to 14.5 v depending on charging levels at all times. Lower than that is not normal if the engine is on and if it is, it should raise flags. Check with a meter to verify what the info screen is saying. |

The lowest mine goes is about 12.5v when it is not fully charging and I usually only notice this when the ambient temps are cooler like in the morning or late at night. Anytime during the middle of the day when its warm/hot out the gauge never drops below 14v. For reference the grey part of the volt gauge is between 11.5v and 16.5v. If your car is staying on the 11.5v marker or below for any amount of time then you have a charging or batter failure issue. |

My radar detector shuts off by itself right under 12.5v so I notice it turn off and back on quite a bit when i'm sitting in line to pick up the kiddos. Kinda annoying.

I know this is an old post but I also can't find the digital voltage display screen. The above says it's on the standard display screen. I have mine on the standard display screens. I can get everything except battery. I checked the pages selected on the standand screen and don't see it. I have also checked through all the displays reached through the steering wheel controls: Performance, radio, nav, info, settings but still can't find it. The voltmeter doesn't show up on the 2.0T and ZL1. Boost gauges replace them.
Yours is an SS so it should look like this(2019 is a little different but the layout is the same): Sent from toaster or something

I dunno, normally the voltage is around 13 V, I haven't seen it hitting 15 V in daily driving, usually just close to 14 V at most. Sent from toaster or something

Bear in mind the recharging of the battery by any car alternator is completely dependent on the battery having some charge to begin with. The battery energizes the rotor windings. The motion of those windings past the stator windings induces current which can be used to power the car electrics AND recharge the battery. Essentially converting mechanical motion into electric power. As this happens the battery also serves as a capacitor to smooth out the ripply voltage you would otherwise get from just the alternator. |
