Saw quite a few of you guys fill up at Costco. I have one not too far and a member. Have filled up once there, highest I can get in LA is 91 Octane. I did a 24 mile trip yesterday, got 17 mpg in mixed driving (highway / street), so I feel better there isn't some underlying issue.

Tires. Well this has been baffled. I am concerned about the right front tire as it always seems to be the lowest PSI of the four. 1 tire is 38 2 are 37 1 is around 32 (right front, think there is something wrong with that tire since I drove it off the showroom floor.). With regards to MPG, my fear is that maybe there was another issue with car (going in this week to have the top replaced, some panels replaced, etc.), but so far it sounds all normal. I hope.

There is a gas station not too far selling 100 octane, but the consensus around here is that is a waste (roughly $10 per gallon).

There's a gas station here selling racing fuel including 94 octane for $5+ per gal. I added half a tank of this stuff to the 91 that was already in there. Total waste of money. Nothing gained.

Its adding up to me now, I believe his MPG #'s are legit and likely not going to improve very much based on his explanations:

Me too. I just went on a 350 mile road trip and went into boost quite a few times and I got 23.6. Mainly highway at 75-85 mph and mountain roads at 45-70 mph.

16 No option 2SS stick. My smiles per gallon number is off the chart!
Daily driver even in the snow. Approximately 35,000. approximately 16mpg lifetime but to lazy to walk out and get the exact #. 93 octane always, what price can you put on fun? |

The issue is he only has an average speed of 12 MPH and is driving through Los Angeles Traffic with zero consistency for maintaining 65+ MPH for atleast 10 minutes and using only 91 Octane... this is why his fuel mileage is so low.

My best was 28 and it was on completely flat terrain, noone in the car but me, 100% freeway on I-10 in Texas, A/C on and Cruise Control set to 75 MPH. On the street it plummets. Down as low as 16 MPG up to 21 MPG. |

91 octane just doesnt have enough to curb or stop detonation on these engines. 93 really is needed, but if you have E85 in your area you can add 2-3 gallons of E85 to the mix and it will help with detonation and give you a bump in octane for minimal amount of $$$. One of the things I found when I went supercharged from the shop that did my install is that 91 octane that has E10 in it or even 93 w/ E10 is a good thing with these engines.

I can get E85 from the same gas station but all the warnings about ethanol doing horrible things to the fuel system have kept me away from it.
