Trust me, I'd like to have a Corvette too, but I would want one that's a little more special.

I did think this way from the 60s!, but the mid engine Vette can do as sub 3.0 0-60. This means that the it will be able to KILL any Camaro sans drag radials in any street fight. Sorry but I'm a street fighter and want the best weapon available. For a long while that was a pony car or a 440 Dart, 396 Nova. Now it is a base Vette with mods. At least in my price range. To my mind it is all about actual everyday street performance and the C8 in ANY trim will absolutely put the spank down on any thing I can afford even up to 100 wear drag radials. That is a game changer to my mind.

I couldn't care less about street racing. Too much of a chance on destroying my car or hurting or even killing innocent bystanders. If I want to prove anything, I'll take it to the track.

I'll take a more limited production car any time.

“no. i like owning not-really-special cars and talking about how rare they are.”

"limited" is the operating word here. Street did I say that??? I meant at my closed private driveway. I do own a Huge ranch. I might run into a ranch hand in high heels.... Can't go out there under equipped.

I hear you though, I would never ever think about ever using my car on the street....

First production mid-engine corvette is pretty special vs the second production supercharged Camaro.... it just IS.

It is called mid-engine derangement syndrome, coming to a lot of owners or future owners of performance cars soon...

TBH the C8 is awesome but I would definitely miss the creature comforts my 2SS has. Those cooled seats are a necessary machine here in Texas. On top of this, I really can't do a great deal more with a C8 on the street than a SS - both will send me to jail quite quickly if I ever decided to really unleash them.

yeah, I'll give you that. im 6'3"-4" depending on who measures me..... I sat in a C7 and wasn't a potential buyer due to funding... but wanted to be.... and I did question if I could actually be comfortable with my head bumping the back of the ceiling

oh, and yes I want a C8.... and loaded SS.... but my wallet laughs.

That said, I would rather have a loaded SS over a base C8. I will never street race, and don't really get any chances for a track much.

So rather than simply being in the best performer, I want the bells and whistles and "something special" that doesn't come from "base models"

I was looking at 2SS 1LE Camaros because I wanted the best performance, the extra luxuries, and liked the looks better..... but I passed because I'll never ride my car hard enough beyond the capabilities of an SS to actually need the 1LE.
So instead, I got a Redline edition.... because I still needed gnat "something special"

If I get a C8.... it will be a Grand Sport only.... maybe the Z06, but I don't expect to have that much cash

The C8’s designers heard you...

You probably will fit in a C8. There’s a video on the Corvette Forum of a guy who’s 6’5” and 300 lbs., and he fit fine - with knee clearance to the dash and a few inches over his head for helmet room.

What's the top speed of that mid-engine Corvette?
