An autobahn run is automatic especially with fresh tires (and wheel bearings) however, a topend run is likely where this engine will fail if at all.
May wait until end of the season to at least get some (s)miles on the car...swapping a fresh bullet overseas is a bit more challenging than stateside not to mention half my tools are in storage...

More success - car drives! Did about 50 miles of low throttle driving to pump the tires up and confirm no leaks. Brakes work (new), no more whir so it was a wheel bearing, and nothing on the ground.
Took us a bit to figure out how to add the AEM wideband sensor to the HP Tuner setup on the laptop - which put us in higher traffic window on the roads. Preventing us from getting the first log...idle to 5000 rpm in third gear three times in one recording. Try again later tonight... It sure whines at higher rpm...even with no boost. :-) Pretty impressive software...hopefully Jannetty Racing can turn the program for another shot on Tuesday.

ADM was a quick ship for the EVAP harness...last piece of the puzzle. Required for any further tuning...snapped into place. Flashed the second program...ready for another log - this time WOT to 4500 rpm.
Hit 9 pounds of boost...makes for a different car. Awaiting another tweak...

Did the first 1500-6500 rpm WOT run last night...9.6 psi and a touch over 11 to 1 AFR:
#5 reprogram going in today - thanks Jannetty! Car is much more of a thrill ride now with the throttle...

Tim, quite impressive so far. Been following your thread for a while.
I plan for a similar LT4 SC upgrade and would like some advice and lessons learned. Shall send you an IM so we can take it offline if OK with you... |

Final program uploaded (#6). Will give it a go once the weather improves.
Log last night was similar - AFR adjusted to 12 to 1, still 9.6 psi boost. The sound is considerably different than standard LT1. One major challenge electric cars will have - no aural enjoyment! It pulls quite strongly past the 6500 rpm redline...may look for set of valve springs sooner than later... I have since swapped to 1 step cooler plug to help with reliability...NGK 6509 - LTR6IX-11. Eldi: by all means post on the thread - tried to offer all the details for the next guy, as applicable. At a basic purchase price of ~$5000, the LT4 setup is well worth the transformation for my application. Also required is HPTuners/tune, wideband sensor/install. My car also required an LT4 air intake setup since mine came with GM Performance Intake as well as a blower insulator pad. Additional was LT4 mechanical fuel pump, LT4 injectors, harmonic balancer remover/installer tool, fuel pump mic tool, and the ADM reservoir assembly. I damaged one sensor and my kit didn't come with a blower belt. Major bonus is OEM parts reliability and OEM look for German legality. Believe the power will be sufficient for my skills...and is the lightest of the options. I do plan to get a final weight and return to the same dyno for a final number - pending current world events. The swap was not difficult and makes the car as I hoped - now 'fast' and a very well-rounded car. It will be more challenging for me to keep up with it on the Ring!

Thanks Tim.
Exactly my power goals - Not to exceed ~ 560-580 WHP on 93 Pump. Where I am currently stationed, the highest octane pump gas I can get is 98 RON (they call it ROZ where you are located..). Sent a IM to you - Please check it out... |

Did a commute to work and back...balmy 40 degrees out, but clear. Very impressive pull! Definitely how I had hoped a new purchase should run/impress one!
The pacing cars just melt away in 4th gear :-) Bad on me, I found data logs past the OEM redline of 6500 rpm. I'm not consciously exceeding the limit on the gauge, but either my 'mature' reactions are growing worse or the tach is a bit tardy. Nonetheless, I will have to adapt to shifting prior to redline and possibly swapping the OEM valve springs for slightly stiffer ones to allow for my miscues. THREAD So far the upgrade is well worth it - not inexpensive (every nut, etc = ~$8000), but then again, bolt it on (with program) and you have 650 HP with OEM driveability. (However likely the mileage will never be the same... ;-))

Ted: Appreciate your assistance - would have thought remote tuning in another continent was impossible. But you have made me a believer - car drives like stock with quite a reserve of power to adapt to! Thanks!

Thinking about your newfound horsepower in that venue also reminds me that you should adjust your speed limiter before you try for max speed. Attached is a screenshot of where in HP Tuners you can do that (shown is the stock SS setting of 180, the ZL1's setting is 206) Also with the gearing and tires that you have, I'm thinking that you will probably need to reach over 6900rpm in 5th to get to 200mph. I think that you will need to keep it in 5th gear, because shifting to 6th would drop too far in the rpm range. |

Did a plug check even though it isn't required anymore - great condition for 650 HP on the street!:
wnta1ss: Thanks - speed limiter was adjusted by the JRE tune. Most definitely 5th gear. My math says closer to 6800 rpm, but I was never very good on that subject. Should be good entertainment, eh?
