What gauge do you recommend to monitor mixture in the tank?

Reason i ask, is when i had the Cam, 2650, etc put in they turned off VVE. I was toying with the idea of turning VVe back on for the first zone only to help with idle. I notice my Timing adv can fluctuate 15degrees. Of course it might be normal, i don't have anything to compare it to. My timing is always in the Positive though. Sometimes as the timing swings you can feel it in the car.

MAF only is the way to go.
