I know, it's almost a steal, right! I paid that much for my 02 Firehawk. Prices seem right on point.

So 2015 1SS with RS package is $35,850 (with destination/freight)

2016 1SS (includes RS package) is $37,295 (with destination/freight)

looks like a difference of $1445

not too bad. Generally, I expect V8 prices to go up as GM doesn't want to sell very many. They need to meet fleet EPA mileage targets.

Actually pretty comparable when you start looking at what's included, or in the Scat Packs case, what's not included.

Also remember that the 2016 1SS has a lot more content from the previous gen/model. In addition if we accept the 200 lb weight loss is model for model, its 200 lbs lighter including all of this extra content. This appears to me at least that there is an unfilled void for a decontented lighter weight model yet to be shown, possibly the way the 1LE was in previous generations. They were basically stripped down of everything unnecessary except for what was needed for track performance. (no AC no radio etc) Not to say it will be like that but possibly something with a rear seat delete and less sound deadening etc like how the 5th gen Z/28 is at a lower price point. Its just a thought that came to me while reading all of the responses to the pricing announcements, but it could be where they are going with the 6th gen.

No ones driven the car yet so how can we be complaining about the price. The 6th gen could be a god send at that price point for all we know

No thanks... My '15 already has plenty of frills and unnecessary luxuries. Don't need any more of that stuff in the 6th gen raising the price. The LT1 is nice but direct injection still has a ways to go and working at a GM dealer I have seen quite a few common problems related to the direct injection that need to be sorted out that I don't want to deal with in my own car. Beyond that the only thing I really care for is the weight reduction but that doesn't justify the price of these. My next car a few years down the road will definitely be a Vette.

This is crazy but true.

Thats how companies stay in business. By not putting the prices high.

Equipment as equal as possible between the 5th and 6th Gen the actual sticker price of the majority of the cars on the lot isn't going up by a huge amount. Does it really matter if you start low and add a ton of popular options or just include them to start with if the final price is roughly the same? That's the decision that GM made. To take the most popular equipment they were installing anyways on most of the cars they were building and make them standard. The average actual price of a 2016 as it hits the lot will be slightly higher than a 2015 as would be expected with a new platform. Those most upset seem to be the ones that prefer simpler, low content rides that weren't built in huge numbers anyways.

Somewhere with the price release there was a stat that more than two thirds of all SS Camaros were a 2SS. Of that two thirds, most are going to be similarly equipped in terms of options. Not counting accessories, I believe there's only 5 or 6 cost options on the 2SS for 2016. MRC, NPP, nav, sunroof and automatic transmission if I remember correctly. It's just a much simpler process to get to the same point.

Of course, I'd need the NPP, MRC, stripes, and interior trim too... Expensive cars, these 6th gens.
RS comes standard on the SS trim levels I think
