It is hard to cancel something if it never existed. Sources assumed that GM would follow previous history and produce a 55th anniversary car. I have not seen a source that has any credible information regarding that a commemorative car was being planned in the first place.

Isn't 55 a weird year for an anniversary anyway? 10, 25, 50, 75 makes more sense. IDK...

Yes, it is an odd interval, but historically GM has tried to capitalize on this.
They offered a 20 year, 25 year, 35 year, 45 year, and 50 year.

I don't recall a 20th anniversary edition in 1987. The first anniversary edition I remember is the 1992 "Heritage Edition". Also don't forget the 1997 30th anniversary editions (approximately 100 equipped with the LT4).

Ford did not do a 55th Anniversary Mustang in 2019 I don’t think. 55th Anniversary Mustang was basically the 2019 Mustang facelift.

Just FYI: The Mustang mid-cycle refresh was for the 2018 model year.

Harley did this often. The real years end up having more value. 100th was a good investment year. 50th Camaro is a good number.
I think given the opportunity the pencil pushers would do things like "37th" anniversary edition!!!!
Most are decals. If you really want to use the vehicle its pointless.
Most Indy Pace Car edition decals were kept while the cars were driven.
I must say it did make me desire a 50th Camaro.
I would buy the 69th anniversary though...

Eh, it's still not as disappointing as Mazda's idea of a 100th anniversary.
