Not sure what you expected from any valve when you bought it. Live with a valve through few oil changes and you'll appreciate it. A copper crush washer is used on many high-end cars instead of Rubber. It'll last longer, it seals, but it's impervious to heat. And there is a very simple way to take off the filter without making a mess, using a tall kitchen garbage bag, do a search here.

Too many oil changes over my lifetime that never had a valve and I never made a mess of things. The best thing a valve does is lighten your wallet but props to any one that likes them.

It’s a small cost over many years.

I use a Stahlbus on cars that have the drain plug in a difficult to reach location. Makes it so much easier. I’ve debated buying one for the SS even though it’s in a convienient location already.

Race Ramps is the way to go for oil changes. Also recommend a magnetic drain plug. I installed one from Dimple

Where do you guys get your magnetic oil pan drain plug from? I seen some from Amazon but do not know the metric thread sizing.

Coming up soon on my first oil change.

M12x1.75

I purchased that one from Amazon.. fit just fine. Can't bring myself to spend $30 on the fancy anodized one.

Oil filter torque spec for my Corvette Z06 is 22 lb.ft. Most likely it it the same for the Camaro.

I use a Stahlbus oil drain valve, and a FilterMag oil filter magnet.

The madness

This first DIY oil change has been an all day and now night affair.

I purchased the ramps from Harbor Frieght and they worked great. I did need to remove the rubber guards before driving up otherwise they would get caught while driving up.

The 15mm drain bolt was extremely overtightened and stripped both externally and the internally. At last a “bolt extractor” was able to loosen this monster. The filter was also very tight and required a pair of vice grips to rotate.

Below are photos.

MARS Auto had the bolt I needed and the AMSoil. My local Advanced Auto Parts has Mobile 1 and Castro’s, Penzoil, Royal Purple, etc but my gut told me to go with the brand I use in the bike. The Harley certainly came in handy too because I went back to harbor freight multiple times. The staff hooked it up, cash is king.

Took the car out and first thing I noticed was how calm the reverse behaves. The exhaust is smoother and has less harsh attack. It performs well up to 7000 rpms where it pulls in forth to 100 and immediately followed by fifth gear smooths out nicely. 6th cruises by at 65mph around 25-32mpg peak 35mpg.

I'll be ready to change out the oil on my 18 1LE in a few weeks.
I have a set of ramps, though, they're only 5" High.
What is the height of your Rhino's, and did you have to make stairs in front of them to clear your spoiler?
I've looked at the long two piece Race Ramps online at 8" in height. $300.00 seems like a lot for a few extra inches.
Thanks,
