DIY DSV E-Brake Leather Boot Install
First, I want to say a big thank you to DSV and *********** for supplying me with the boot. I won it in one of their recent giveaways, which they hold often so if you haven't won yet don't give up. If you're not the luckiest average Joe out there check out their website at http://www.dsvcustoms.com or http://www.***********.com for your carbon fiber/hydrocarbon/custom leather needs.
The install for the boot is relatively simple. The hardest part is getting the leather to look exactly right/the way you want it to. Depending where it folds on how you put it in etc, or I'm just a perfectionist and really picky. *Side note: that's probably it* First thing I did was remove the passenger side panel to give me better access to the E-Brake unit/mechanism. Whatever fancy technical term you want to give it. Next step was to put the boot onto the E-Brake. This is relatively easy, a Mustang owner would be able to figure it out after a few hours it's that easy. The next part is slightly tricky. You have to push the boot underneath the center console and get it so that their are no creases/folds in the leather. The best way I found of doing this is to engage the E-Brake and get as much of it into place as you can. Then release the E-Brake, slightly (VERY CAREFULLY) pull the E-Brake towards you (reference if you're in the passenger seat). As in pull it away from the center console. This will create a small gap/opening right at the base of the E-Brake and let you push the remaining leather in. All in all, just a little bit of patience until you get it the way you want is all it takes. The next step was putting the passenger side panel back on. Ta-da, E-Brake now has an awesome leather boot. The whole install takes roughly 30 minutes, no more than 45 if you're really having trouble getting the leather just the way you want it. Once again, a HUGE thank you to DSV, ***********, and Indpowr.
