I knocked out a few small things today. First. I ran a BG GDI cleaner, because i dont have a catch can yet, so i figured a little cleaning after 12k couldnt hurt. I then installed the Mamo V2 87mm throttle body. I didnt really get on it on the way home, but already noticed a stronger "connection" with my foots input and an added feeling of eagerness from the car.
While the hood was popped, i removed the rain "guard" from underneath the hood vent. Its got to help with removing the hot air coming off the radiator. Maybe it also will help in reducing front end lift/drag at speed?? Waiting on my RotoFab dry thats supposed to show up next week, along with an MSD 2 step. If they show before thursday, ill try and get back to the track. Also have a dyno tune revision scheduled for the 11th. I know you dont NEED to retune for just a TB and intake, but i want it optimized best as possible......and being at 499 has been kinda bugging me. 500+ sounds much better! |

I was going to recommend a Pray ported 95MM GM tb and pray ported stock IM. That and adding the Rotofab with a retune should net you some substantial gains.

If you run it OP let us know how it goes. I have proven that the 245 all seasons do not work so well at the track.

Went last week and had a best of 12.0 @117.5. Garbage 2.0 60ft.
So instead of stressing over that, i decided it was time for some new wheels. Grabbed these Axis 20x10.5 +40...(rear fitment only) with a small spacer and some persuasion from my cut off wheel, the clear in they front now! Ill report back when ive got some rubber mounted. I installed the LT2 manifold saturday and dropped it off for a retune at Speed Inc. 🤞 for an extra 20/20 with a little more rpm. Also mounted 28x10.5s im looking forward to trying out within the next couple weeks.

$1,000 for 17 hp and 5 lb ft, not thrilled. This is the overlay with the last time it was tuned.

not sure exactly what you were expecting, but that's a bigger peak hp gain than i got from adding an msd, rotofab & LT5 tb to my car (that already had headers & ethanol). should be good for a solid 1+ mph gain. although ill be honest, i can see you losing most of that gain in the 1/4 mi to those tires.

Wow, hearing that makes me feel better. I was hoping more would carry a little past 7, but maybe my cam wasn't intended to be up there. My MPH was trash already at 117. I thought i read a FBO A10 went 130ish?? If not this thursday, then next i hope to get out there and see.

your car is cammed, isn't it? id expect it to easily trap 125+. the fbo auto cars going 127+ are light. my m6 car weighs 3720, id be happy with 123 mph out of bolt ons.

Also was there a different wheel used between these dyno runs too?

Yes, its got the GMPP hot cam, but it doesnt rev as far as most aftermarket cams. Id expect a 125+ trap. The wheels may be different from last time (fifth set) but im pretty sure overall height is the same. After a couple thousand miles, ive noticed improved throttle response and less cam surge during highway cruising. I dont know if thats from the manifold or the tune revision. Either way im now happy with this, and hoping some track times will reflect the change.

I agree that 117 trap speed is not right for a 6g with 500 rwhp at this weight. Since your car is an M6, I will relate another M6 SS that I've seen at the track. What he told me he had was: Rotofab, ptb, Speed Engineering headers, and 93 tune. He had 26" drag tires on the back, much like you used to, and street wheels (not skinnies) on the front. Anyway, he went 11.5@119 with the bolt-ons. Knowing that you had E85 and a cam, would make me expect your car to go faster, not slower. My suggestion would be to get your hands on a logger to log your track runs, and look for clues as to why it's not running like it should on the track.

Thats not a bad idea. What would be used to log? I've never looked into that.
