no you cant. it will loosen again. the nut is part number 11612295 $10 MSRP

they will use a new nut. the nut is a lock nut. you cant reuse a lock nut.

If I do it myself, is there anything to be concerned about (anything I should know before removing the nut and replacing)? Do you know the proper torque?

For a $10 nut I'd almost rather do it myself, just want to be sure I do it right and not screw up anything...

199lbft they dont recommend any loctite being its a lock nut. its easy. dont use a impact take it off with a breaker bar. just put it on with a ratchet and torque it.

Sounds good... Yikes 199 ft/lb, I think my 1/2" drive torque wrench only goes to 150 ft. lbs...

Curious as to why no impact wrench? Will it damage something?

probably the splines. GM says in the factory shop manual not to use air tools.

I replaced my axle nuts a few weeks ago. Torqued them down to 200 ft lbs. Fixed all my noise and rear slop issues...for a week. They seem to have already backed off again. Guess I get to do it again and hope for a better result? I'm out of warranty so on my own with this.

What about some Loctite 272 Thread Locker? (The same stuff GM recommends for your caliper bolts)

I used blue last time (it was what I had on-hand). I will use red this time. I'm also going to look at my stake job when I take the wheels back off. May need to stake them better this time. Only things I can think of to change.
