I have a Sloan Kwik Load and really like it. For the money it's hard to beat.
I do use 24" long 2x10's to load with. I probably don't need them for the ZLE but I did with the Z/28 and since I have then I use them. It's a very well built trailer, easy to use by yourself. I added E-track the full length and use straps over the tires, never had an issue. The rock guard is great, I wouldn't have an open trailer without one.
The only open trailer I would have instead of the Sloan is a Sundowner Ultra 22. The aluminum, extra length, and storage would be nice to have but at more than twice the price of the Sloan I can't justify the price for only hauling the car 6 - 8 times a year.
Happy towing!

I needed about 4" on the Aluma 18" tilt.

I had a 1" thick 12" square piece of wood that I placed under these race ramps and it worked perfectly.

Definitely giving this one some consideration.

The only issue is the 81" width with those high borders. The ZLE is a wider fit and you have to load perfectly straight on this one.

Time for a new Trailer...

Getting serious about a Sundowner 20' with split axles.

Anyone have experience with these?

Still doesn't look like the door will clear the wheels.

Ps. I sold my car trailer and rent from U-Haul which is surprisingly cheap. I still use my race ramps to prevent scrapping when loading, and I use some wood upfront so the splitter does not hit the lip.

It was not worth the storage hassles and room the trailer took up. That equation works for me, but this approach would not work if you were trailering every weekend.

Here's a place in Texas called Waco Bill. He's got just about anything you need. Toilets, lifts, aluminum, steel, enclosed, open, etc. I imagine he'll deliver too. www.wacobill.com

I have an eighteen-foot 5K Champion ES Standard. The nice thing about the front air dam is they keep crap off the underside of the towed car - even snow! Get brakes on both axles.

Good point... My Aluma didn't look like it either but Sundowner looks even higher.

Definitely need to make sure though.

Hey again Mike. Hey on the sundowner with split axles, a rep sent me a picture showing the distance from the deck to the top of the tire. Unloaded it's around 10.5 to 11 inches. On Greg's AP4000 trailer (pictures you posted), he told me that his door would not clear even with the fenders removed. He was able to place the car where the edge of the door fell between the 2 tires. Basically he was able to open the door just enough to get in and out. I reached out to another member Derek who has the ultra series non split axle setup for help. He had sundowner raise the deck by a inch or so so his zl1 doors would clear the tires. He still ended up adding another 1/2" after the fact as the 1" still wasn't enough. If I go with a sundowner, I will probably have them raise it by 2" which should be more than enough for my car. Big thanks goes out to both these members for taking time to talk/message me trying to help out.

Thanks to everyone for posting information on the trailers. I did not think about adding spacers under the axles. I just sold my Sundowner because I could not open the doors even after removing the fenders and using race ramps.

I am now looking for a replacement trailer, so all the great post really help with the search. I will have to take a look at the Sundowner with the split axles to see if that would work better. They are great trailers, the build quality is really good, and they pull really well.
