I ended up spending around $500 shipped. I'm Happy to only pay $150 in shipping considering how large it is. I also purchased a splitter extension from Aero Concepts.

I payed $579 plus $75 for shipping.

The mounting rods that come with the kit are to large in diameter in my opinion so I went ahead and turned the diameter down .375"

While I was busy machining the front mounting rods I thought that it would be cool to do something out back that matched. I went ahead and faced each bolt that holds the deck spoiler extension on.

If you are looking for a durable material for a splitter extension, UHMW (ultra high molecular weight polyethylene) or HDPE (high density polyethylene) would be good choices.

The materials are available in various sizes and thicknesses, and black color is available.

UHMW is superior in abrasion resistance and impact strength.

HDPE is more easily machinable, and less expensive, but not as durable. (HDPE is also called HMWPE).

UHMW is as close to indestructible as you will find in any material, the only drawback is it has a relatively high coefficient of expansion. Probably not a factor for a splitter extension.

I use UHMW for the wear edge on my snow plow blade. It doesn't damage parking lot pavement or curbs, and lasts almost as long as steel.

I'm still recommending marine plywood if you track it hard and intend to run kerbs.

No damage following 7 laps of this but it was gently kissing the ground. I've got about 1000 track miles on my current splitter extension now.

I've worn through the right hand side rubber tyre deflector piece though, I'll be ordering a replacement soon.

(This equivalent part on our Z28 splitters)

The plywood is a good ideas for sure! At one point i'll do something similar. I also wore out both under deflector pieces. The new oem replacement splitter includes those parts as well .

I went ahead and put some holes in the deck spoiler. I was a little worried I was going to buying a replacement after this... It came out pretty good..
