Anyone have any news or just general updates on how production is going? Is the chip shortage still as massive a problem as it was when they shut down the factories, or is the factory starting to pump out cars as normal now? I'm only asking because I haven't seen any news regarding the Camaro factory/chip shortage in weeks if not months and I'm seeing lots of people getting things moving on their orders. My dealer hasn't gotten a Camaro allocation in months, so if things are getting better than they were a few months ago, I'm scratching my head as to why they can't get anything.

It's likely because you ordered a V6 - they haven't made any 2022s with a V6 yet as far as I know, and the last update from Dylan shows there are 50 allocated nationwide. There's a lot of people in the queue for V6s, it will take some time to catch up (providing they can actually keep producing the engines needed).

I had an order in for the V6 but switched it to the V8 LT1 as of October. Dealer told me there was one order a head of me (a turbo 4cyl), and since I switched my order back in October, not a single allocation for a Camaro has been given. I understand tons of people are stuck at 1100 and have been for months. I'm just scratching my head as to why my dealer can't get an allocation if things seem to be getting better production wise.

My mistake, I saw the first line in your sig and failed to read the rest of it....

Yep, I felt the same way… I cancelled my order last Thursday (after 2 months of waiting for an allocation on a non constrained car)

The next steps would have been trying to order from a dealer that could solidify an available allocation….or buy one off a lot (with a prescribed maximum search area / travel distance) I ended up going to dealer to check out an LT1 and bought it 30 minutes later.

You’re going to like the LT1, very quick around town (it’s a real hoot) if I were you, I’d do a build on Chevy’s site and see what’s available now or slated to be delivered soon. Good luck.

The allocation number will tell all Chevrolet dealers exactly how many trucks/suvs/cars GM will build for them over next few months. Unfortunately, this does not constrain the dealership from pre-selling more than the earned allocation, as GM does not manage this process in any way. In other words, a dealer (knowing they only have two Camaro’s arriving within the next six months) can pre-sell 20 and simply tell the customer that the order has been put in. For the 18 customers who are at the bottom of the list, they are at the mercy of whatever story the dealer tells them regarding the production of the vehicle. Dealers are under no obligation to disclose how many of their earned allocations are spoken for when making pre-order sales. As such, many dealers don’t disclose this information to the customer because if they did, you would probably walk right out the door.

Some of these posts are scaring me. Dealer & salesperson I ordered through I have done business with countless times over the years they gave me a time period of late march to mid April for arrival, with expectation that the order won’t be picked up by GM until after the 1st of the year. At time of order, the order did not have anything with constraints. But my dealer is a dealer that usually only has 1 to 2 Camaro’s on their lot at a time these days. I’m good on the time frame they told me, but just hope it doesn’t drag out from there further a bit.

a 15 Nov date you just don't know but 1 Jan and delivery in to mid April is probably a very honest answer. I think it's a little optimistic, I have a ZL1 on order from Aug and I'm hoping for mid Apr but we're talking different cars here.

got a local dealer telling me they have an allocation for 2SS. It's pretty sad that I don't necessarily trust the internet rep's word even after I had her confirm it with her sales manager. Heading there tonight after work, guess we'll see what happens.
On positive side their site says they have a rapid blue vette in stock, will let me get eyes on the color first hand.
This process really is so convoluted. You'd think Chevy would want to sell units and prioritize dealers who have orders in place on a first come first serve type of basis.

So, check out my dates below. I'm genuinely shocked how fast it went.

Almost every dealer has only 1-2 at most, so nothing bad there.

Just...don't be surprised if it's longer, if they don't get an allocation. They really shouldn't have promised a timeframe, really.

So I VERY NEARLY bought a 2SS 1LE from Paul Masse! Yes, even being all the way in Las Vegas. They were AWESOME to deal with, and I hope to do it again.

That being said, if you want a Vivid Orange 2SS 1LE in an M6, they have one coming right now within the next 2-3 weeks, and they are selling it at MSRP!

Yah I've been in contact with them. I want regular SS in Rapid Blue a10, which they also have coming in convertible but i want hardtop. Vivid Orange is my fallback if an order never gets picked up and I can't find a RB that I want.
They actually have 2 orders already waiting allocation so wouldn't take an order from me. Which I give them credit for being up front and honest.
They're one of the few dealers I've talked to who responded promptly and more importantly talked to me like a normal person and didn't use the typical sales crap to try and get me in the door asap.
Tasca in woonsocket says they've got an allocation for the order I placed with them tonight and one more.
