Question about the new PS3?

Just wondering what my camaro comrades know about this.

Tomorrow I'm getting a PS3 and I'm doing some searching on the new slim model. I was wondering if there is any problems with it compared to the older, bigger version. Oveheating, doesn't play as well, not compatible with some things, etc, etc... Are there any major problems that have been reported, or am I just being nitpicky.

Anybody have one and love it compared to their older PS3. Mcfly I know you made the switch.

Is there any way to get a universal remote to work with it?

Thanks

PS: this is not a xbox vs playstation debate. it's PS3 or bust for me.

Had mine Since release, Not one Problem with it

No overheating, nothing, if there is a problem its the Game not the system

I would recommend Downloading the Uncharted 2 Beta/Demo its a lot of fun,

Battlefield bad company is fun but i would wait for BFBC2

COD4 is Good also but MW2 is coming out in a month

and Gt5 comes out soon (not soon enough) :(

Thumbs up

i have only had my slim for a week after selling my fat model to a buddy of mine for what i paid for it (200 bucks ). As i can tell so far, no problems, i love how quiet it is over the fat model. the only thing I can tell that is different is the start up wallpaper says PS3: Playstation 3 instead of just Playstation 3. that and Sony has removed the 'install new OS', so no putting Linux on the slim model. oh and having 40 extra gig of HD space is nice, i have 3 games installed and i still have 80 gigs free out of the 120 .

oh and it is missing from my sig, but my PSN ID is davemcfly85 so, feel free to add me .

I've never had problems with mine. Only thing I've had problems with were Fallout 3 freezing, and it's a common fault of the game. Battery life in the controllers is surprisingly LONG! I've left mine unplugged and unused for a month, picked it up, and it still had it's full charge.

Reliable, and quite quiet.. doesn't heat up all that much and is easy to clean. No real need for tech support. I'd get the slim though, as it cuts down on the unnecessary bulk and card slots. It's essentially a debulked larger version.. you can still do the memory expansion to both so you don't lose anything except space if you pick the larger one.

Not to mention built in wireless is a breeze to set up. Very intuitive.. It just needs more games. :/

Thanks guys. I'm pretty sold on the slim now. I can't wait till tomorrow. I'll fix my blazer in the morning because it decided to puke all of it's coolant, then to the electronics store for my early christmas gift

well umm as far as the new ones you dont have to worry about scratching it easily cause of the flat black and not the gloss. now you will not have the memory card slot but you will get the 160gb hard drive, now as for the buttons the power button is a press and not a touch sensitive like on the first one, also there is no on and off switch like the first one. to me i dont like it. but it does have more memory then mine. mine was given as a gift and my girl just went to the store and asked for one and they guy did not offer or ask what gig so he just came out with the 40gb and my girl did not know until christmas day when i said something.

other then that the game play will be the same and you will still be getting the blue ray and at a cheaper price.

that was the older fat model that came with the uncharted game. the slim comes with a 120 gig, and they are gonna release one with 250 gig and a game for 499 apposed to the 299 for the base slim .

x2. Was just at Gamestop reserving Fallout 3 GOTY and they trumpeted it up. I said I liked my chubby PS3 just fine. He's kinda like me.. fluffy.

They didnt' change much except remove the card reading hardware that made the older model larger. When they slimmed it down, they just got rid of the least used components in the PS3's history. Also cut the price down quite a bit.

So really they just made it cheaper by putting it on a diet. Nothing more..

How's the Slim?

I use the Sony bluetooth remote - You can get others, but you have to use a USB dongle receiver.

Unless the slim added infra-red...I don't think so?
