Thought of this thread and from your signature it looks like you got a ZL1.

How are the paddles working out for you?

Do you love the A10?

from my experience, if you have 4 USABLE gears on track, you are doing well.

Most 6 speeds make you throw away 1st. Most likely 2nd as well. And, of course 6th. So basically you end up with only 3.

I have a Tremec T56 Mag XL, and I had custom gears made for 5th and 6th.

With a 2.66 1st, I can ALMOST use it in slow turns, but it really wakes up 2nd and makes it useable all the way to 6th.

It is such an advantage that I feel like I have a 'cheating mod'.

I have many miles on a road course (VIR) with my A10 and will give my 2¢. Useful gears are 3-7 as 2nd will likely spin the tires. 3rd is good for turns that are tight and lead onto a straight stretch. Gradual turns are better served by 4th and you can squeeze to WOT quickly and allow the LT4 to use its immense torque to gain speed quickly. Using the PTM is almost a given and I would suggest Sport 1 and learn the car. Sport 2 isn't really any faster and doesn't have active handling available.

For 20-30 min sessions, learn to use the paddles as in "auto" mode the rpm hovering at near redline will drive you crazy. If you like the tach needle sitting at 6K rpm, keep using auto. Car and Driver used it for their Lightning Lap and that was a good choice for such an open track hot lap. I suspect the transmission temps will get very high using auto for extended track sessions. Have fun!
