Early results are good. No vibration. We'll see what happens after a few hundred miles.

I hope you have good luck like I have so far. I have a 2017 1SS with the A8. After about a year and 2500 miles, I noticed the shudder. Got the first flush, and it was good for about a year and another 1500 miles. The shudder came back, and when I called, the dealer informed me of the new flush that is supposed to be a permanent fix. I had that done about 3-4 months ago, and after about 500 miles, so far so good. It’s my weekend cruiser, so I don’t have a big mileage sample to go on.

Not even 2 years ago I went through this saga of triple fluid flushes doing nothing and they finally swapped the torque convertor. Now with the replacement one the shudder is back. Curious to see how they handle this problem now.

GM never found a true fix and i really don't think anyone knows what is going on. People that say it is fixed will run into the shudder again out of warranty and good luck then. So no A8 cars for me ever.

Not pleased.
That is when my new 2019 C7 would shudder around 60mph. It was built in Feb 2019 with the new so called fluid and started to shudder at under 250 miles. And i even had a Ranage device. You could feel it coming and going at a steady 60.

^^^ this, unless you have the Jan 2019 blue bottle Mobil1 ATF fluid, the triple flush was no good, because the same old hygroscopic fluid was re-added. This then likely accumulated enough water again over time, leading to the same shudder. New fluid + torque converter should be your ticket; if your replaced converter is not or only mildly damaged, the new fluid may be enough.

Tuned my A8 immediately upon purchase of my car back when it was new. Have never had any shudder FWIW.

Question 2nd time getting flushed

Well i got about 1000 miles on my 2nd flush job with the supposedly new fix all end all fluid. Seems to feel like its doing it again. But now seems like its doing it at a wider range of speeds and gears. Normally when i feel it shudder i can put it in 7th and it goes away. Now it seems like its always doing it. that rumble strip feeling. is there any other driveline issues i dont know about that would be reminiscent of TCC shudder? Thanks group.

Was your torque converter ever replaced? If not and you drove the car too long with the shudder, the clutches may have sustained permanent damage and may not be able to reliably lock anymore, in which case you need a replacement converter.

Not sure where you are with your powertrain warranty, but it should cover this job. Make sure you find a helpful dealership.

If you're past the end point, the new revised torque converter itself isn't very expensive, but replacement involves significant labor. You might as well get the transmission tuned, it will almost feel like getting a new car with a better trans.

Hey everyone, sorry that I have not kept up with this thread. My last post was back in January after my torque converter was replaced. Please see my last post for more details.

After you have received your first flush with HP fluid, my 2016 took ~3000 miles before the shudder came back permanently. Please try to get those miles on it as quickly as you can, if the clutch is damaged the problem will return. I felt very short instances of shudder at 2500 then at ~3000 it was permanent. You’ll know it when it starts acting up again and you want to be able to show the problem has persisted. Once the shudder returns work with your dealer to get the torque converter replaced.

I have ~2900 miles on my new TC and not even a hint of the shudder returning, it’s been really good and so far I am pleased with the results. It’s been so nice to drive around and not worry about it. There is light at the end of this nightmare but, as mentioned, you have to find a reputable dealer and have patience. Nothing pissed me off more than this A8 shudder but patiently working with my dealer to get through the problem was a win for everyone.
