Volume numbers on radio

This may be just me, I'm old, but where the heck are the volume numbers on the radio? I just realized this while trying to prepare to tune my aftermarket system, but when you change the volume there is no number that shows the level...

I mean, somebody had to post it.

And another thing, the damn volume resets back to softer settings every time I restart the car. Although the Camaro is far from the only car to do that these days.

LOL, yeah I guess someone did have to post it.
There is a setting for "startup volume" where you set that, but I'm not sure if it can be disabled...

There's a max startup volume setting that you might want to show some love to. The default value is something like 25% if I remember correctly.

Not sure how knowing a number reading on the audio will help tune an aftermarket system. If this is important send a test tone and adjust volume until peak-to-peak voltage is within range.

It's important because when you take measurements with an RTA and mic, you want to make sure the HU level is the same. So if I manage to get all my tuning done in one session, it's not an issue. But that's unlikely.
More likely, I will have to do it over several sessions spanning a couple of days and leaving the car on that whole time is not practical.
I may just use that startup volume feature (which I forgot about so thanks for reminding me) as I only need about 80-85db for measurements.

Another reason it matters is for setting gains. When you set gains you need to know at what volume the HU clips. Now, the HU may be able to go to max volume without clipping and this will not matter, but if it does clip, knowing the max volume before clipping is crucial.

When I finished my system, the NAVTV M650 didn't clip at all. Quite surprised. System looks good, keep us posted on changes. I also went Frog all the way through, except for the center channel, which is Morel.

So I set the gains yesterday and you are right. HU turned to max and no clipping.
I actually didn't even connect a center channel...
In case you're interested, there is a link to my build log on DIYMA in my signature.
