2020 Camaro 1LT New owner; questions

New to the forum folks; retired 25 year USAF vet (SR-71, F117 Stealth, and other black programs). After 35 years (owned a '69 GTO but sold for family; down payment on house) I've finally got my sports car back, a 2020 Camaro 1LT 2.0L Turbo w/RS package. I was researching for a month or so, just in the 2018-19 range, anything below 10K miles, but happened to open searches to the 2020 to see what dealers were asking. Surprisingly, found my 2020 Camaro with the 6-speed manual listed at $21,900! Had to call the dealer cause I was seeing 2019's for that price (or more)….he verified that they only had the one with $6500 off till end of May. Since he was 2 hours down past me in Pasadena, Ca I asked for a OTD price so I wouldn't waste my time. He came back at $24,600 and I was waiting the next morning when he opened. I think I got a great price though to be honest I wasn't looking for a 2.0L manual, but after test driving I found out it did have some balls for a 4cyl so closed the deal.

Thinking my best move is to protect the car first so got it ceramic coated the next day, and upgraded tinting will go on tomorrow, then splash guards. My question to you all is concerning an exhaust system upgrade, need some more sound in this beast. What are your suggestions? I'm new to the terminology, been reading countless posts here, so some explaining would be appreciated. Thanks much.

Congrats! Nice looking car. Are you wanting to maybe upgrade to an axle back exhaust, and start there?

First thanks for your service.
I know with the turbo cars you could get a downpipe and throw on a cat back exhaust. I think Borla makes a system for the 2.0 turbo. Congrats on the new ride.

Thanks for your service. I loved my 69 GTO the one car I still wish I had. I would suggest you wrap the front and rocker panels before doing a ceramic coating. Expel film or the like will save your front end. I had my 2016 done and will never buy another car without doing it. I also did ceramic but honestly for me it was a waste of money cause I wash it often and after 4 years i just went back to using paint sealant every 6 months.

Yes, to piggyback dpevans: Get a Xpel wrap on the front bumper and rockers at a minimum. Just did mine with a level 3 paint correction & seal for $1700. Expensive but will save a lot of money, other places will do it a bit cheaper than what I paid.

For the exhaust, take a look at the Phastek link above. Congrats & thanks for your service!

Thank you for your service and welcome to Camaro6!!! Congratulations as well on your purchase.

Lots of good info about the 2.0T on this subforum: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=234
So many different options and lots of us willing to help out. BTW, keep in mind some mods may void your warranty so keep that in mind.

Regarding exhausts, check out various youtube clips.

Enjoy your ride and happy modding!

Thank you for your service. I was stationed at nellis afb, security forces, 1 vet to another, thank you.

I have the same engine and year, just different trim. They are surprisingly fast and fun. The cornering is amazing on this from oem.
I just have a muffler delete for exhaust so far (I'm a cheapo for now), but these guys know what to get you started and what sounds best. I plan on doing the Mishimoto quad tip axleback then borla mid pipe, then ZZP catted downpipe in the year to come.

Thank you for your service!
As far as muscle cars I can relate also as I went 20 years without one! Had a focus, an accord, a Jetta a truck, I’m sure I’m forgetting some, but I always longed to have a muscle car again.
Yes like the others have said paint protection film, mud guards et Cetera. Some also recommend a caTch can. Enjoy!

Update to my original message.....

Got the tint job finished, 35% grade; now on to splash guards. While picking up the Camaro from Preferred Tinting I found out they do PPF on cars.....for $1095 they'll apply the film to bumper, headlights, partial fenders, partial hood (12-24"), mirrors, and rocker panels. Don't know if that's a good deal or not.

As far as all your replies to adding an exhaust system, appreciate all the information; thanks.
Now I need to do my research. One note, surprised this pic makes a Shadow Gray Metallic paint look like blue metallic....must be that So.Cal sun.
