Ordered a harness for the driver-side seat cooling from Gen 5 diy for $100. Surprising how much one perspires when attempting to be like Bill Elliott! More surprising that Chevy included the cooled seats in all cars...just chose which option level got the switch.

Revisited the same shop to get a total vehicle weight after the addition of the supercharger.

The blower added 82 pounds to the car...I was expecting more considering the blower unit itself was nearly 65 pounds. Return on investment is considerable - ~200 CHP for 82 pounds - wish all upgrades had the same benefits.

1746 kgs minus new tires/new front rotors/19 gallons of fuel, plus the AFR wideband...equals 3729 (no fuel/no people). Note, I did weigh all old and new parts to eliminate variables - even tanked up 2 blocks from the shop to the tippy-top to confirm a full tank for calculations.

The corner weights are not accurate as the floor was not level where the weight was recorded.

Friday is a dyno appointment to record the power increase - same place as previous.

Visited the chassis dyno today...same facility/operator as pre-supercharger. It appears to be a quality facility using a French dyno with a full hurricane force wind blower - quite loud and powerful!

Obviously their numbers are not the typical US HP/wheel or crank, but PS and NM units.

Best run previously with no blower was 375 WHP...now 540 WHP. Backing into the factory engine rated power rating of 455, equates to 655 CHP and 656 CTQ. Likely pretty accurate as the tune is likely on the conservative side with octane appearing to be the limiting factor.

Couple of notes on the dyno sheet - they didn't use the best of each visit's runs. No idea why. Secondly, they don't do a tach pickup...they try to match wheel speed and indicated RPM to the dyno...the result is errors for whatever reason. All runs were over 6500 rpm. They also use an odd correction factor to provide an at the engine number - seems excessive so I only see the wheel power as being legitimate/understandable. Admittedly the nearly 900 NM's seems rather impressive!

Bottomline - happy with the result - it pulled nicely to 160 mph on a busy autobahn on the way home - scared my passenger a bit I think (his previous max was 125 mph). ;-)

All four runs are listed below...still slight discrepancies with the chart, but nonetheless. Also noted are some inconsistencies in the runs at top rpm...I will have to cross check the logs.

Not an exactly exciting shot of the dyno...

I will say the typhoon force wind is sufficient to rock the car impressively.

My seat cooler wiring came today...should be a nice addition for a half a pound weight penalty...considering all the Recaros come with the fan equipment already.

Maybe this weekend.

Seat ventilation switch installed!

Quite easy to install other than pulling the seat out...their Youtube video made it simple.

Note a Recaro seat weighed in at 56.4 pounds (complete with rails, etc).

Took a bit to fiddle with the adjustment, but at full blast - I can feel the air! Should be a nice addition on track - I usually come out soaked during a visit on the track.

Speaking of which, weather is good and I'm cleared to visit Nurburg tomorrow. Looking forward to the new thrust...

Another visit to Nurburg...7 laps successful! It was wonderfully vacant at 0900...I hardly met another vehicle and only 50 odd degrees:

A 7:50 Bridge to Gantry time which is an improvement from previous unblown of 7:53. The addition of 200 HP is great for acceleration, but complicates the math for corner speeds. More practice is obvious.

Tires were a bit hard at 40 front and 39 rear, otherwise a wonderful dance partner (wish I could dance...)

The seat cooler modification worked like gangbusters...yet I still sweated enough to drip down the door panel - ha.

Can't get over the acceleration and exhaust note - very impressive.

Nurburgring GP track is open this Friday...hmmm.

That's awesome man. Congrats! I'll be interested to see how the times progress as you get more familiar with the added power.

Nucdancer01: Thanks - the border opens Monday so getting clear laps will be more challenging until fall.

Took advantage of a half-day and Nurburg's GP track access. 30 Euro gets you 15 min session with limited cars. Other than some octane issues appearing in the 80 degree temps, it was a great day for 42 miles on track. My young assistant seemed he felt obligated to provide pointers based on his previous go-carting experiences...looking at my lines - he was probably correct!

Track is a bit more stressful on tires and brakes, but really allow one to feel the limits of the car's cornering power - long graceful corner encourage experimentation. Overall speed and risk are far reduced with tops of 135 mph or so.

Besides how often you do you get to share a track with a $1 million McLaren with near 800 hp...I'm ok with that pass.

:-)

First view was mine on this last video You did absolutely great, congratulations, that McLaren is in another league of course with +150 hp and -800 lbs.

I like how you hung with him through the turns before he just drove away on the straight.

Thanks Gents.

Great fun and what a neat rolling car show. You could really see the vertical exhaust out the McLaren - glad folks drive those things!

A fun track with altitude and slow/fast corners. Car was feeling the heat so I've got a bit more work to do.

I've got 3000 miles on the supercharger now - it appears the boost is too great for the German fuel and the bypass operation may need to be addressed.

The CE light illuminated on the first session and engine temps spiked (unfortunately, was not recording PDR so unsure what the numbers were other than 0300 Misfire/0324 Knock System). The second session I kept a conservative approach with 6000 rpm shifts and pulling a higher gear in hopes of avoiding any challenges of the 3 hour drive home!

Nice pro shot of pulling 1.4 g's:

I consistently had knock retard with the Maggie even on 93 gas when ambient temps were high enough, see log shot below. Not much, though, and some octane booster to 95-96 cleaned it up completely.
