Supercharged Hp vs N/A Hp
Just sitting around wondering and maybe it has been answered before, but why does it seem that a supercharged car needs about 100 more whp to run the same as a N/A car in the 1/4 giving weight and everything else equal?
While we are at it other things I've wondered,1 why do we park in a driveway and drive in a parkway? 2 if you tear the wings off of a fly does he become a walk? 3 why do houses burn down but people burn up?4 Do Lipton tea employees get coffee breaks? Appreciate the help ,lord knows as yall can see I need it.

I have yet to see a NA car and Supercharged car go head to head at the same weight. Also you have to look at where the added weight of a FI setup is placed...up front which isn't ideal with weight transfer and getting off the line. NA cars tend to 60ft better because of this. 1/4 mile racing is all about the front half.

I generally see the NA cars considerably lighter and stalled higher

I dont think I see this.... I just see the N/A group being pushed harder than the FI side. Most FI builds are overweight pigs because people think they can supplement weight reduction with more boost.

60 lbs does not seem like a whole lot, but dunno. I think the car is low to the ground so weight does not transfer as well. We need the 60's front up 3" back down 1" street fighting stance to start with enough weight back there....

Ironic that you mention this. On motor my heads and cam LS1 Camaro is around 450 rwhp, and a friend on mine had the same car (same trans and rear end gear as well) but with just bolt ons and a blower that made 480 rwhp. Every time we ran I would get him. Not by much, but I would definitely pull every time. Maybe the higher compression, less heat soak, etc...all help out. But I will tell you that with nitrous you can have the same horsepower of a blower, turbo, or n/a setup, and the nitrous car will usually win. All else being equal of course.

Agreed....and supplementing weight reduction with more boost normally means traction issues.

Yep, I’m doing this. I just don’t care. I have zero interest in stripping out my 2SS. Hopefully I will at least provide some entertainment for my fellow FI enthusiasts as I break drivetrain components.

I guess I'm missing something, BHill N/A car made like 750 crank so that's about 640 whp, I believe you made 750 wheel ,your both about the same weight and the weather was about the same his 930s 143, yours 950s 140 and you have 100 wheel more, Laynlo I believe he said his was making 850 wheel when he ran 940s I get he is like 500lbs more but that's 200 more wheel even if you give 100 for his weight disadvantage that is still 100 more wheel to run near the N/A car, school me more make me learn..lol. christ I'm gonna need 1500 wheel with my thinking cause I'm not sure I wanna pull any weight.

My car weighed 3900 with me and my best pass was 9.41@146, my second best pass was 9.46@149.88 so the blower cars should back half much better then a NA car and that shows up in classes like pro mod and drag radial classes. My car was limited only by fuel system which an NA car apparently does need like a blower car. I'm was running with the stock converter and we had very little timing down low to keep from blowing the tires off and still had a 1.35 60ft. I had plenty of power at the end of the year to run 9.20s and did run a 5.99@119 w/1.42 6ft and it was spinning the tires and out of the groove. I just never could get the tune right and then a little problem occurred inside the engine.

A) not the same weight.... I think I have 300 - 400 more lbs on him. I'm a big guy, he has a lot more weight reduction, and the supercharger stuff ain't light. B) on my 9.5 pass, my car was actually pulling timing. (Cut me some slack here, that trip to the track was just the shakedown passes to get some bugs out). It was trapping 145 mph all through the day... it pulled timing and the mph shows that... the 9.5 pass was probably 680 - 700 rwhp. C) gimme a few months to let the tracks open up.... I will probably doing some tnt at full weight... I'll give you some good data to work off of.
