Speed engineering headers 2020 ss

Hey guys I want to buy speed engineering headers this week. My question is do I need everything from them like new bolts, spark plugs, 02 extension. Also another question I have the awe track exhaust and I know I got to change the x pipe if I don’t want to do any fabrication of the exhaust but there shouldn’t be any issues adding speed eng headers and they’re x pipe on to the exhaust correct ?

Assume a tune is in the works as well? I got the 2" TSP headers, bolts, and X pipe from TSP. See the results after tune on this post (10/11/22 comment)- this is stock NPP exhaust and not aftermarket.

I ran the SE 1 7/8" on my 16 SS and my 16 C7. They fit really well and sound awesome, mine were catless with the SE Xpipe. I would go ahead to get one step colder plugs, buy the 12" wires so you can keep them off the headers, they build their own wires and are really high quality. I think only the drivers side needs the extension. Buy some header wrap and wrap the tubes closest to the starter. Wrap the starter also since the headers will create a lot of heat and may kill the starter at some point so don't take a chance. If I remember correctly the starter heat shield will go back on with the long tubes so that's where the header wrap comes in. Good luck and get a tune.

The Speed Engineering kit - Basically every option there is available at WildHammer Motorsports site is what you need, and is exactly what I have for 2" Header install. Relative options for the 1 7/8ths I assume as well.

Also since they are not coated: You will want plug wire boots as well as these headers can get up to 900 degrees F, The boots I have are rated up to 2500 degrees F

The 3" X-Pipe is fine as well same thing on my car, albeit my installer said was a little bit of a pain to install, but they had no problems otherwise. Even had Firestone compliment the exhaust work.

The last thing to look out for is the cross member brace that goes across the X-Pipe, after install the pipe tends to settle and can rattle on the cross member brace. A simple shimmy of the brace can resolve the rattling issue. I had the same issue and haven't had the issue since they shimmied the cross member brace. My shop said pretty much all Camaros have this problem.

2" Speed Engineering LT (Cat Delete)

This is good advice on the heat wrap and starter may save a big headache.

It sure will, don't put headers on without doing this. If you drive in any kind of traffic where you may sit for a few minutes in summer temps you'll kill the starter. Takes just a little time to do this and well worth the effort. Auh I see you live in the midwest so for sure wrap them

Personally I wouldn't do the 2" if your staying NA or even Boosted. I've had some fast rides that made plenty of HP and I always run 1 7/8. They fit better and you don't lose the torque you will with 2". My 16 SS made 850 or so with SE 1 7/8 and xpipe, plus I ran the 1 7/8 on my NA C7 with no cats. You'll hear both sides so ultimately it will be up to you.

You don't lose any significant amount of torque with 2". The only benefit with 1 7/8" is that they usually have less fitment issues. I do agree 1 7/8 are plenty for most builds.

That being said whatever you go with I would have thermal coated.

I was under the impression that the 2" primaries were for 800+hp builds.
1 7/8's will be enough for my ZL1.

To clarify: I went with 2" because of future planning, Either a 416 Stroker Cam Build, or super charged.

But driving without either hasn't been an issue and neither has fitment. That said 2" are designed for boosted applications.
