All Season Tires for the winter?
What tires are you guys running all season? I currently live in Atlanta, Ga. Weather gets mild here, can average mid 30s weeks at a time. What would you all recommend for a tire swap and good price point.I have the Eagle F1 on now,and traction is definitely being compromised as it gets colder. Mind you im running 1 LE 1ss 305's in the back 285s in the front. I also plan to change out the wheels for some z28s.

I am running Continental DWS 06+ on my Camaro. Put them on last year at this time and they worked great in the winters here in Kentucky. Have good grip in even light snow. Excellent cold weather traction.
I also just put a set of Michelin Pilot Sport All-season 4's on my C6 Corvette. Another excellent tire and handle great with excellent grip. So I would recommend either of these tires. I purchased both sets from Discount Tire. They regularly run rebates too. And it you use their financing, you will get an additional 5% discount and 6, 9, or 12 month interest free financing. |

Just put the Continental DWS 06+ on my 17' Convertible. I'm in middle Tennessee. I only put a hundred miles or so, but I'm please. After putting the new wheels and tires on I came down with that 2 week plus flu.

Continental has very good all-season tires. I particularly like their little DWS stamping idea, too.

Also in that mix there's the BFG Comp2 A/S+, and the Michelin A/S 3+ is another highly regarded option. I stayed away from the DWS because people were saying it had a soft sidewall and didn't handle all that well when thrown around in curves. It was reminiscent of having the ECS on my 1LE, those felt soft and dull at turn-in, less responsive. I kind of turned off of Continentals for those reasons. Poeple do report that they're good traction in wet, cold, and light snow though.

This is what I'm driving. Good in the cold and wet. Probably a step down from Conti and Michelin, but the price reflects that. Rebates on BFG vary throughout the year. But if you wait, someone will have $70-100 off a set of 4.

I had DWS06's on my C7, and Mich PS A/S 3+ on my Audi A7. In terms of "sporty" feeling (probably sidewall stiffness) and traction. 1) MPS A/S 2) BFG Comp 2 A/S+ 3) Conti DWS06 In terms of "comfort" and "quietness". 1) Conti 2) BFG 3) Michelin Can't really go wrong with any of them, as the distance in "differences" in their ranking is really minor. If/when I get my ZL1, I'll probably go back to the Conti's for cold weather.

The Michelin PS A/S 3+ is no longer made. The replacement version is the A/S 4. Wife's CTS AWD had a set of 3+'s and one got a bead separation, probably due to a pothole (245/40-18's, not much sidewall). They only had 20k on them. Called the Michelin cust supp # to ask if the 4's would be a direct replacement for the ONE tire, they said you had to at least replace as pair. When I mentioned it was AWD, they said the whole set had to be replaced. The damaged tire was replaced free with our road hazard plan through Belle Tire, but that meant 3 new tires that were essentially ok had to be trashed. Michelin opened a "case" for me (at their offering!) and pro-rated the 3 good tires and gave me a credit for them! Ended up paying $500 out the door at Belle Tire for a whole new set of A/S 4's. Would have been less but I re-upped on the road hazard insurance too (used it twice on the A/S 3+ set, so it paid for itself in the end!).
I'm currently running a set of NEXEN AU7's that came with the wheels I bought, but I'm looking at a set of PS 4s's as a 3-season tire. I store in winter so I really only need a "wet" and "down to 35-degree" tire, which a few folks here swear the PS 4s's are perfect for.

I've had the Continental DWS 06+ since 2017 and I really do like them. They performed well when I drove in the snow along with 2 50lb bags of rock salt in the trunk.

I live in Seattle, so winter here is rain every day, 25-35 degrees at night and 35-45 degrees during daylight.
My previous performance cars had various all-season tires like Firestone Firehawk (trash) or some Goodyears. However, I've tried switching to Continental DWS06 and felt the difference. Then I've switched to Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 and that is like night and day. Dry handling in cold weather is awesome, wet handling is great, and even driving in the snow is not a big problem. Traction in cold weather on a race track is OK. So now I swap summer tires on my performance cars to Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 for the winter. For my 1LE I went with a square setup - 295/30/R20, fits well on staggered wheels. Will swap back to summer tires in April/May.

People, please! The OP doesn't need all-seasons at all! OP, you can drive on either Michelin Pilot Sport 4S or Continental ExtremeContact Sports all year 'round in Atlanta. They are completely safe down to freezing, and I drive mine well into the 20s with no worries at all. And either of these tires is way better in the rain than any all-season. No, that's not a typo. Track and autocross hounds use these as rain tires in classes that mandate street tires. They have solid grip in the dry down to at least freezing, too. Just get these and don't bother with different tires for different seasons in your climate.
