limited slip gear oli API-GL5 . LS Additive still required?

Hi,

when using a LS gear / axle oil that meets API-GL5 & MIL-L-2105D specifications, would I still need to use a limited slip additive as recommended by Chevrolet?

For my 2014 Camaro SS / AT I'm thinking of using either
https://www.ravenol.de/en/products/u...ls-75w-90.html
or
https://www.ravenol.de/en/products/...getriebeoel-sls-sae-75w-140-gl-5-ls.html

Based on API-GL5 & MIL-L-2105D specs, these oils include already up to 6,5% of special LS additive which should make the use of any extra LS additive obsolete.

So is it possible that the recommendation from Chevrolet is from a time where the API-GL5 & MIL-L-2105D was not available and the use of a separate LS additive for limited slip differential was mandatory?

If it has limited slip additive, you shouldn't need to add more.

I had the dealer put in the Mobil 1 when they did a differential service and my rear end howled in tight corners. I went to a local shop by me and after they put in the limited slip additive it is now back to quiet as normal.

Moral- Noise add the limited slip additive. No noise - good to go.
