eLSD Drag Update
Has anyone had the Camaro ZL1 eLSD Drag performance calibration upgrade done by GM? I am considering having this done for better burnouts and drag launches. Your thoughts on it would help with my decision. Price, effectiveness etc. Thanks

Yes, had it done earlier in the year but have not been to the track to test it yet.

This update came out just over a year ago. It's cost about $350 at the dealer.
https://gm-techlink.com/?p=11978 And from what I've seen in that time. People haven't been able to tell if it's really worth it. It's supposed to help the car launch better. So to each their own but I don't think it's worth it. |

Totally forgot about this one... Sure wish we could get some definitive results.
Every article I've read on this always talks all about burnouts and very little on launch launch. At least this one mentions doubling the torque. And we've always known turning everything off is the way to go. This article actually mentions that for activating this eLSD tune change. |

I wonder since the update stops at '19 models, if '20s and on already come with the update...

Seems strange not to include this update for all newer models. Charging $350 for an update that should already be part of the car's programming is pretty ridiculous.

It's a specialty program for the strip only, so no reason it should come on the vehicle already. Some people road course and some drag race, two completely different routes of differential locking.

No reason not to include it from the factory, they already have the programming, just give the customer the choice to choose what mode they want to use.

When My car was in for warrenty I was quoted $130 + tax. To get the calibration done.
They called me back a few hour later and said... oops sorry. It's $450+ tax. I declined. It's just not worth it to me. If they were to step up to the ****ing plate and offer some other performance enhancements for it, I'd be game. Maybe a boost kit to get a couple more PSI and OEM tune upgrade that puts us near the Demon power. GM really could give a shit less about the ZL1 owners. Look at their performance catalog. It's says it all... with nothing in there for a ZL1. I'm guessing that they don't want to have the ZL1 make more power than the Z06. But shit... offer the same upgrades to the Z06 people too. Start with a guage cluster accuracy tune, so you can actually see what the heck your car is doing. The smoothing of the gauges ( especially coolant ) is insane. |

I would say the only negative I have on this update is the fact there is no menu change. There is nothing that shows you have the update except your recpt from the dealer. Even that doesn't mean they actually did anything but take your money.

That’s a good point. I would like to read your review when you get your car to the track.

I agree, they should have added a drag mode in the menu.
