Arrow Best motor oil to use in a 10-15 Camaro?

What is the best motor oil to use in a 10-15 Camaro? We have only used Valvoline 5W30 Synpower synthetic motor oil "Dexos approved" in our 2012 Camaro 3.6L V6 with a K&N oil filter since brand new with 7 miles on it and never had a one problem that was oil related. Why does GM highly recommend Mobil 1 5W30 synthetic motor oil "Dexos approved of course"? I never ran Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil in any of the vehicles I ever owned I just wanted to know. Do you have to use Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil to maintain your engine warranty?

^^^^ No you don't . But I believe it's more important to change the oil often, rather than
what brand of oil you use. I changed my oil yesterday for the 12th time in 8 years and
47,000 miles. I never use the computer's "% remaining" indicated by the Camaro's computer.

Because Mobil 1 pays them to say that.

No you don't NEED to use Mobil 1 for the warranty, but you need to use Dexos approved oil, keep receipts and records, and be able to prove that you have used a Dexos spec'd oil in the event that you do need to warranty the drivetrain.

another oil thread.

Personally I use Mobil1 in pretty much everything that I change the oils in myself except for my 93 F150 which has always been on Dino oil. I've never personally changed the oil in my 2011 F150 as the dealer will change it with SynBlend for $30.

GM use Mobil1 based on in house test data that shows it to be the best choice for the lowest lubrication / friction related warranty costs. If there were something better, they would use it.

Is that true? I always thought there was money exchanging hands and that they just slap a name on it. I assumed they did all of their testing based on Dexos minimum specs.

Why do they have a GM Dexos oil that you can buy if they use Mobil1 in-house?

(Not trying to argue the point, just genuinely curious)

I know a number of GM engineers that race or have raced on their own dime. They all use Mobil1 based on what they have seen and know from the inside. As I understand it, Mobil1 is the 'premium' oil for high performance and Dexos a minimum standard.

Besides my Camaro I also own a 96 Impala SS that has been significantly but professionally modified, in this vehicle I only use Royal Purple 10-30 full synthetic with K&N filters. The Camaro I use Royal Purple 5-30 full synthetic with K&N filters also. I usually purchase my Royal Purple from Summit Racing who has the best price, majority of the time, and free shipping.

Mobil1 since day one. 22k on mine and 4 oil changes under my belt. Every 5k regardless of what the indicator says. Check my oil often to make sure level hasn't dropped since I have a catch can that collects a significant amount of oil between changes.
