My modded Z28 arms

Hey guys, I am feeling lonely and need some compliment but trolling is also welcomed for laughs. Now do you like what I did to my Z28 toe arms. As you can see I reinforced them for increased stiffness.

No trolling here, that looks great.

Did you have it jigged when you welded it though? Or have you checked the welding hasn't distorted it..?

I was looking at the Pfadt suspension components the other day, they look good - strength gains and mass reduction and they have some sort of GM approved certification apparently.

Good question. Z28 arms has spherical bearings instead of bushing. I had the welder weld to control excessive heat as not to warp or weaken the thin metal. It is flat as a plane of glass and way more rigid than the stock Z28 arm. Downside is more weight.

What kind of material did use i.e. flat plate or channel. I have a set of arms in the garage that I could have done.

more to the point..which alloy did you use. I'm guessing you use a hi tensile steel?

On corrosion, you've now created hidden areas where corrosion can get in and rust. Personally I'd use zinc rich inorganic on the base (the zinc in the coating is sacrificial); followed with a zinc rich epoxy, followed by an epoxy coating. Alternately you might find someone in your area who can spray apply (plasma spray) a zinc coating onto your parts. Ideally you should weld all edges of the added metal to prevent having any crevices where rust can occur; then you just need to paint what you can see.
